Are you engraving your wedding rings?

We are debating whether or not to engrave our rings and if so what to put on them.  Are you engraving yours and if so with what?  Thanks!

Re: Are you engraving your wedding rings?

  • I have been thinking of this too.  I am thinking just the date of our wedding.

  • we have honestly been wondering the same thing. All the things we can think to put are pretty dorky but i think that makes it even better!
  • I like the idea of it, but I think we are going to wait. FI's parents put to:___ love, ____ on theirs. Of course I know that was like 35 years ago, but still it is an idea.

[QUOTE]We did not do it before the ceremony (time got away from us), but we are doing it for our one year anniversary. We're big dorks so it will be engraved in elvish.  One will say "one ring to show our love, one ring to bind us" and the other will say "One ring to seal our love and forever to entwine us" Yep, we're big dorks, but we're okay with that.

Maybe I'm just a giant nerd, but I think that's awesome!
  • Stage Manager- I think that sounds like one of the coolest things I've ever heard!  So cool that you guys found something so unique and special to you!

I don't know what we'll do for ours, if we do anything at all.  Lots of good ideas on here though...
  • StageManager:  I agree, very sweet!  Although the poem reminds me of Lord of The Rings so much (is it the same one?).

On a related topic, did you watch the Big Bang Theory this week?
  • I think engraving is cool.... but I'm sure I'll forget all about it after the first few months.
  • We're just doing the date.  But on my mother's ring (not my mom's - it's one I have for being a mom) I've got my sons name and birthdate.

I like stage manager's.  I think that's just too cool.  But I wonder how all that's gonna fit on each ring...
  • My ring does not have room for engraving (it is antique and a thinner band) but I am having "Forever and for Always" engraved in FI's ring.  It is something that is kind of an inside joke.  The one weekend, pre-engagment, I was able to drag him to a craft market I just had to have a little wooden wall hanging that said "Forever and for Always".  It was on the pricey side and we were kind of broke but he bought it for me.  On the way home he jokingly said "I must really love you to spend $30 on a 8X8 piece of wood with some words written on it"  Ever since then when I tell him I love him I sometimes add "forever and for always"

Stagemanager-I love yours too!  Very cool!
  • My engagement ring was engraved when he gave it to me with the words "Sweet Jasmine, Love David" On our wedding bands, I'm not sure what we will put yet!

  •  How thin is too thin?  I was at Tiffany picking up my engagement ring, and I tried on a 2mm band.  They said they could engrave that!
  • Stage- Big Bang this week the guys bought a box of stuff from a sale; one of the items in it was a prop ring from The Lord of the Rings.  Most of the episode centered around what they were going to do with/who was going to get 'The Preceious.'  Love that show!  Makes me feel like way less of a nerd!  :)

  • I really want to engrave ours as well but stumped onwhast to put. My FI is a big geek and very much into everything geek like ( you wouldn't guess it if you met him). I think he's rubbed some of the geek on me a bit since now I'm into much of the same things too.
  • No, not engraving the rings.
  • We joke that FI will buy several and they will be numbered 1, 2, 3... so I will know how many he has lost.

But seriously I'd like to do either our initials and the wedding  date, or a line from our probable wedding song "with each moment, the more I love you" (DMB Crush)

I'm told they can engrave them really small. You just might not be able to read it.
  • does anyone know if its possible to engrave comfort fit bands? My Fi like the feel of it, and Im getting his in tungsten, but would like to engrave it for him if its possible.

i know that tungsten and titanium cannot be engraved.
  • I'm engraving his ring with a Star Wars quote.  He's a huge nerd and love Darth Vader so I thought I may use one of his quotes.  Either: "Today will be a day long remembered." or "I have you now!" But I'm pretty sure I'm going with the first one if it fits...  I also know many peole who have done initials or a basic "I love you."

[QUOTE]Aww, thanks guys!  Most people, IRL and on TK, think it's pretty retarded, but I love the fact that's its a sweet and romantic sentiment expressed in a way totally in keeping with our personalities. It's nice to hear that not everyone thinks were dumb.  :)

I think it's sweet!!  It's a really need way to bond the rings.  They're just jealous lol!
