I did it!

I completed my first marathon! It was HELL though. It rained the whole time. There were so many hills, and my old knee injury acted up from the hills. I had limestone in my shoes when I finished and almost vomited while running past a dairy farm because it smelled so bad. I finished though so that is all that matters. The next time I do another, I will definitely not sign up for one with a ton of hills, that sucked.

  • Good job!  I give anyone credit who does a marathon!  I'm training for a 5k and I'm not so much a runner.

Running by cow fields....interesting lol.  Was the whole marathon near dairy farms or just one portion?  The 5k I'm going to be running is does a loop around our major airport, I don't know if jet fumes will help with running lol.

  • Congrats!  I was wondering how it went!

You should come do the Houston marathon.  Flatter than a dead man's EKG.

This was me about a year and a half ago.  Now I love running.  It killed me not being able to run while I was sick in September.

  • Buddy, the marathon was down in Madison, WI so there are farms basically every where. A good stretch of the run was in the country, the other parts were in a conservation area, and the rest was in town.

Elle- That would be awesome, however, I am not sure how my body would like TX heat. My last half it was 90* and they cancelled the race 2.5 hours in.

  • Congratulations again Lady :) Dont be afraid of hills, you'll get stronger each race!

Haha.  That's why the Houston marathon is in January.  You'd be fine.
  • The Bayshore Marathon in Traverse City, MI is supposed to be a really flat and fast course.  I am considering doing the half marathon they offer next year.  It is either that or one closer to home that is kind of hilly.  I want the flat course, but the entry fee is literally twice as much for the Bayshore ($80 instead of $40).  So I'm not sure.

Well how warm does it get there in January? I may need it, we'll be around 10* or less with tons of snow.

  • Congrats! That's super impressive!

Thanks again! It was great seeing a message from you shortly after I got done running!

Now that I am back to normal pain wise (well except for my blistered toes) I am thinking of the next one to do! I've talked to Dewinged about a program called Team In Training and I have contacted my local program for that for more information. If I do it, my second full will be in May.
