I am so frustrated with trying to find information about the Creighton method! I have looked everywhere online and the closest instructer/facility that uses it is three hours away! There are CCL teachers in my area, but to be honest I'm pretty smart and can figure out STM on my own. I just want a more concrete, scientific way to go about learning about my fertility. Ugh. Maybe more people would use NFP if it were actually available to them!

Creighton can only be learned with a certified instructor. This is part of the design for standardized teaching and stardardized observation. It cannot be learned on your own.

You can skype/phone with an instructor for your sessions.

This is the only way to learn Creighton method.

Yes, it is really sad that there are not more teachers, but unfortunately a lot of the problem is that there isn't much of a demand for teachers. :-(
When I took my (STM) class, there was only 2 couples in the whole class!
Not exactly an overwhelming swell of people demanding more classes/times/options... :-(

But, hopefully that is all slowly changing, as NFP (slowly!) begins to get accepted by the medical community as well as non-Catholics who are just interested in non-HBC methods.

I guess I'm lucky that my area has a ton of CCL NFP classes available, and Creighton instructors too.  My NFP class is pretty big.  Maybe 50 people?  It's a little disappointing because we won't all get one-on-one time to go over our charts and stuff, but it's good to know there's so much interest.  There are several other sessions going on during the same time period, so it's not like this one is so full because there's only one teaching couple around.

Also, I want to add: I've only had one CCL NFP class so far, and all of it was concrete, scientific stuff.  So I don't know why you get the impression that STM isn't scientific?  Maybe my experience is different because the husband teaching us is a doctor, but it wasn't a bunch of lovey-dovey stories.  It was a detailed science class, really.

STM is based on science, but it does not have scientific observation methods.

It's scientific observation becasue its done Every single day,  the same way, all the time, no exceptions through the whole cycle.

Hmmm...that's what they told us to do in NFP.  I know some NFP users who, after awhile, stop charting temperatures, etc.  But that's not what the method recommends, in my understanding of it.

STM is not quite scientific observation .... mucous observations are not emphasized before /after bathroom, before/after shower, bearing down at end of day. In Creighton, The manner for observing is broken down into steps that must done exactly the same way each and every time. (These questions are asked at every single meeting with instructor--this is the standardized teaching method also).

STM has used Both internal and external mucous observations...these are two different kinds, not the same, so they can't be compared.

I know of so many that stop taking their temp after ovulation until next cycle. I know of so many that only do cervix checks at certain times. This is not scientific observation.

Ok, that makes sense.  Thanks for the clarification!
