Hi ladies!!

My FI is Catholic and I am not.  I plan on converting and raising out children Catholic but I have not and do not plan on starting the process until after the wedding.  We are planning to have a full mass at the wedding, and our Priest has no problem with that.  I just wanted to know if anyone has ever been to a wedding or in a wedding with a similar situation one person not Catholic.  I don't mind that I can not receive the communion and I know it will be a beautiful ceremony.  It is something that Jeff has always wanted in his wedding and is very important to him, and I think it will add something special to the ceremony.

We just did out EE weekend and I am very excited to become a part of the Catholic faith, I just wanted some opinions on this.

Thank you!

I haven't, but if you and your priest feel comfortable with it and it is what you want then I say it doesn't matter what others think. I'm assuming that the majority of your family is not Catholic? If so, I would make sure you have a more detailed program explaining the process of the mass.

GL and congrats!

my brother in law married a non catholic in the catholic church with mass.  it was a beautiful ceremony and mass (she too plans on converting sometime soon).  she and her family had no issues with not being able to receive.

Yes, my family is not Catholic (well maybe a few are).  They have no problem with not being able to recieve.  I thought it would be a nice way to help everyone to understand what I will be converting to and how our children will be brought up.
I know it doesn't matter what others think but I just want to know how it is recieved by others and possibly how they feel when they can not recieve the communion.
Thanks for your help!!

Most of our guests (including my family) are not Catholic, so there was a very small line for communion.  It was still a beautiful ceremony and we have not heard a single complaint.  In fact, a lot of our noncatholic friends told us ours was the best Catholic wedding they've attended.

Congratulations and good luck!

While my FI and I are both Catholic, my dad is not nor is most of my extended family (even on my mom's side). Like PPs suggested, I plan to have a very detailed program so my family and our friends who are not Catholic can follow along and participate to their comfort level. I think that most people understand about communion in a Catholic church and won't get upset or offended. As long as your priest is on board and you and your FI are happy with the decision, I wouldn't worry too much about how your guests will react.

we are having a full mass for our wedding and not everybody will be able to receive. If this is what you want, than you shouldn't worry about what others think. Its your day! :)

My daughter's (now) husband is not Catholic.  We had a full Mass.  Father explained "options" for anyone not able to receive Communion.  Father had indicated that by crossing their arms over their chest he would know whether to offer Communion or a blessing. I was very surprised and pleased to see how many non-Catholics opted to join in the Communion to receive a blessing.  It made for a very moving moment in the ceremony to see such a strong sense of support and family unity.

Father made a point of making everyone feel welcome, appreciated, and included.  I honestly think more people commented on the ceremony and Mass moreso than the reception!  It was beautiful.
