On #9, it seems to me that NFP still puts the burden of observation on the woman. I've read cuddly stories about husbands who help with recording and interpreting and waking her up, but it's still only the woman's cycle, because only the woman has a cycle, that matters.

i guess the way i look at it is that yes, it takes two to make a baby, but only one to carry it around and birth it.  i honestly have no problem carrying the "burden" of NFP/Charting/BC because im the one most affected by a pregnancy.

Wow, great article. However, I spent probably close to two hours reading the comments below it! It was increadibly frustrating that most of the critics completely missed the point of the article: that as a form of birth control in a healthy relationship, the pill is a bad choice and there are better forms out there.

It's not a burden, its empowerment.

We should all be self- monitoring our food intake, exercise, observing irregularities in our skin, bodily functions, etc. We are "burdened" only as far as one can place blame on God for making you female.

And its not just "cutesy" stories. Most couples I know that do NFP have husband involvement to some extent. She observes, he interprets.

"She observes, he interprets"

Reminds me of themes throughout ancient and medieval philosophy

H frequently asks me if a particular day is "green or white."  It's just cute.

And since I don't take temperatures, observing my fertility is about as "inconvenient" as going to the bathroom.

Great article! (The drinking water part terrifies me in particular, since it affects ME, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it! or, esepcially any male children that I ever might have!)

Here's another great article I just came across, but it's discussing the pill and Catholic Church from a completely secular viewpoint:

It's hard to believe that the author of that article is only 18!  He is one smart and articulate kid... not to mention hilarious.
