I'm getting married in July and the earliest we can do pre-cana in our neighborhood is April 28-29th. Is that OK? My Priest had said to get registered for pre-cana and bring him proof of our baptism, etc by early March and I never thought to ask when pre-cana must be completed.

We've already picked out all our Ceremony details except music, and have my mom in charge of flowers for the Church. What other details should I be aware of? Someone mentioned unity candle-is this important? When we meet with the priest next month, I know he will let us know what we need, but I just want to be prepared. Thanks in advance!

I'm sure as long as you're registered for it (and are going to attend!) it will be fine.

Don't worry about the unity candle-- don't plan on having one unless you REALLY want it. It's actually not an official part of the Catholic ceremony, and some priests won't even allow it.

My wedding is July 7th and we are doing our engagement encounter weekend April 13th-15th (this was what was required for our pre-cana besides meetings with the priest). If that is the date you can attend in your area, I'm sure it will be fine.

I also agree about the unity candle. Unless you or your mothers really want one I wouldn't have one or worry about it.

You should be fine with that date, as long as you are registered and all set to go it shouldn't be a problem.

There was a couple at our EE weekend that was getting married on Wednesday and the weekend ended on Sunday.

It should be fine.  Your priest may want you to mail your pre-cana certificate to him after you complete it, so he has it for his file.  I know the certificate you get from pre-cana (among other things) is a requirement in my diocese.  And since you've done pretty much everything, minus the music, for your ceremony, you may not actually see the priest again until the rehearsal.

I'm sure it's fine as long as they have everything before. And my church actually doesn't allow the unity candle... it's not my regular church but my regular priest performing the ceremony was okay with it and told me to try to ask and see if they'd allow me to. I didn't feel it was worth the battle - I know my mom loved the symbolism of it so we're doing a sand ceremony (it's a beachy theme wedding... the reception is on the beach). Each vase is going to have a little charm picture frame of us from our family to symbolize it coming from each side and we'll have the moms bring it up to us.
