Hey ladies!  I write a weekly post on Engaged and Inspired and this week I wrote about the bouquet toss.  I'd love for some feedback and ideas from other AZ brides...what do you guys think of the bouquet toss? Is anyone skipping the toss and doing an alternative?  Please let me know because I cant decide. The post is here:  http://www.engagedandinspired.com/2012/01/26/to-toss-or-not-to-toss/

We skipped the toss, because the only single person there was my husbands niece, who was about 10.  LOL

We did a giveaway/anniversary dance instead.

I've been to wedding that didn't have it and no one missed it. I am doing a wish toss with all the ladies and five flowers with a wish attached to each. No garter toss though :)

We're not doing a garter toss either :)  The wish toss is a really nice idea, I hadn't heard of that before!

I didn't even think twice about it until reading your post. Before meeting with the florist, I was even going to toss the bridal bouquet because we're leaving on the honeymoon the next day, so there was no point in saving it. When my mother and I met with the florist, neither of them could stand the thought of tossing the bridal bouquet so the florist included a toss bouquet in my package for free. I guess I'll have to ask my bridesmaids what they think about the bouquet toss.

I like the idea of doing the anniversary dance and then giving my bridal bouquet to the woman who has been married the longest.

I think the very first decision I made after we got engaged was that there would be no bouquet toss or garter toss. As a single woman, I hated being dragged up there, so I never even considered doing that to my friends/family.

We are doing an anniversary dance, but not as a substitute necessarily.

Yeah, everyone seemed to have a lot of fun with it...  and it was a nice way to kind of honor my husbands parents, since they ended up with the bouquet.  Obviously we knew before hand who it would be, but we kept the giveaway part of it as a surprise so they didn't expect it.   It wasn't actually my bouquet that we gave away, because I wanted one that they could keep, so it was a silk one.

You can see how happy they were:  http://www.mmproofs.com/p520920463/h101046e0#hb331151    LOL

It was a lot of fun!

I'm not even having a bouquet, so no bouquet toss. We're just going to go right into intermingling with each other.

No bouquet toss. It's my least favorite part of weddings. I'll be giving my bouquet away at the church to Mary (well, as a symbolic gesture) after the ceremony. I heard of other catholic brides doing this and I like the idea. :)

Are you carrying anything else instead of a bouquet? What about your bridesmaids? I'm intrigued!  I'm not having my bridesmaids carry flowers but I will have a ginormo bouquet :p

Definitely dont toss your actual bouquet!  I'm glad your mom and florist talked you out of it :)   If for no other reason, that sucker must be heavy and could hurt if someone got hit with it :p

A lot of people on my fb page have voted for the anniversary dance/gifting it to the longest married couple too.

I'm not having a bouguet toss... we're a little older... everyone we know is married, widowed or really young. To me it would just slow down the evening and make people feel uncomfortable. So, at some point in the evening, we'll be doing a good luck dance - one of my friends did that and it was really nice... each couple that dances is supposed to represent 1 year of good luck for the bride and groom.
