Upon meeting Chris, he seemed like a great DJ, knew his stuff, had a major music selection and was on the preferred vendor list at two venues we were interested in. He worked out a special discounted rate for us after our initial wedding venue closed up shop and ran away with our deposit. He was easily reachable via e-mail and phone (both voice and text) and I was thrilled about how easy he had made things for me when it came to music on our wedding day. However, as the wedding neared, he started to make "suggestions" for music after I gave very specific instructions and preferences for our wedding and reception music selections. Three days before my wedding, my grandmother passed away and instead of being firm with Chris and my selections, I trusted that what he was telling me about the music selections was for the best. Never did I imagine he would change any of the songs I specifically requested to play for very important events (father/daughter dances, garter toss, etc). Prior to the wedding (1 week), I e-mailed a very detailed ceremony and reception outline with music selections to Chris, including YouTube links to each song we were specifically selecting for each event (garter/bouquet toss, father daughter dances- I have a step father, etc). The day of the wedding seemed to go smoothly until we got to the reception. Chris did not communicate with me about the bouquet/garter toss and we had a surprise up our sleeve for our guests which required me to go to my bridal suite and add "props" to my garter. Chris began the bouquet toss music without me being ready, causing me to go running to the bridal suite to get myself ready, without the help of my attendants because of this rush. This was very awkward as the music was playing for my bouquet toss and ladies were lined up, but I was no where to be found and people were confused, and some were worried. Then, to add insult to injury, he played the wrong song for the garter toss, which was SPECIFICALLY picked out because of our venue (an antique one room 1871 schoolhouse), my profession (a teacher) and our little surprise up our sleeve (added a ruler, pencil and composition book to my garter for him to "find" first). Chris played the intro of the song ("Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen) for about 30 seconds and then switched to something completely different, which was the cheesy big band garter toss music everyone uses. Those two snafus could have been ignored and forgiven, however, it was his complete and utter screw up of the second father daughter dance (with my step dad) that I will never forgive or get over. After spending 4 hours of my personal time finding the PERFECT song for my step dad (Natalie Merchant's "Thank You"), Chris played a creepy song, "This Kiss" by Faith Hill, which was incestuous at best. Then, realizing his mess up, he played another song, which I can't even remember because of my anger and sadness over the mess up. I can't believe these GIGANTIC errors could have happened given the EXCEPTIONALLY detailed outlines I provided him. Don't trust Chris to even run a playlist on your own iPod...he completely RUINED major times/elements of my perfectly crafted wedding. He took away from moments that were supposed to be lasting, happy memories and replaced them with shock, hurt and anger. He only gets an overall 1 star rating because my ceremony music and my guests reception party music was ok. If I could give him a ZERO I would. Chris Bland seems to like to run weddings in a standard format that works for HIM, not his CLIENTS! He took all my thought out ideas and desires and scrapped them, instead using his tired, outdated, "DJ" format to run the wedding HIS way. Then, when I texted him the next morning to see if he could schedule a follow up conversation on the next business day (Monday), he responded, "Who is this?" Solid Gold? How about Solid Turd! Disgusted with him!

Chris was a GREAT DJ for my daughter's wedding. Followed their musical selections to the letter. Even helped us in announcing to family members when we took special pictures in specific areas of the venue. He was not obtrusive or obnoxious. Absolutely wonderful. Everyone danced the night away with great joy. We were so happy with him.
