My fiance and I are looking to get married in a Catholic Church in the New Haven area as our reception will be at the New Haven Lawn Club.

We have had trouble finding a church that will take us, since we are from out of state and not parishioners. We know St. Mary's in New Haven will do it, but they are very expensive.

If anyone has any other suggestions of churches in the surrounding area, even up to a half hour away, that would be great!

Thanks!

We got married at St. Theresa in Trumbull which is about 30 mins south of New Haven. The paperwork I got in 2009 stated they do marry non-parishioners for a higher fee. You might want to call (203-261-3676)and ask if they still do it.

I am getting married at St. Pius X in Middletown, the fee is a bit higher for non-parishioners ($500 total) but they do allow it.  It is probably about 35 minutes north of new Haven.

Not sure of the fee, but I'd try St. Rita's in Hamden--they're right on Whitney Avenue, so nice and close to the Lawn Club (less than 10 minute drive).

We got married at Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. It's about 20 minutes from the Lawn Club.  I'm sure they would marry outside the parish but you can call just to make sure. Our fee was $500 including the organist.

Our Lady of Mt Carmel is another option. That church is in Hamden and is about 15 minutes way from the Lawn Club. GL!

I'm getting married at Our Lady of Mt Carmel in Hamden and they definitely allow non-parish couples to marry there. I am not sure of the cost, but I will be finding out soon.

My ceremony is going to be at St. Joseph's in Shelton. It is about 20-30 minutes from New Haven. It is a fairly large and beautiful church.

Try St. Bernadette in New Haven. It is right near the beach. A very cute church. Not sure what their policy is on out of staters, but it is worth a try.
