Anyone have a good idea for the "get away" car that is affordable? We wanted to do a horse and carriage, but it is much more expensive than I thought! At least $175 for only a half hour! Any thoughts?

Why not use your own or one of your parents? We were going to use my in-laws mini but the morning of the wedding the battery went dead (and apparently you can't just jump them like you can other cars). We did a send off with bubbles but then just walked out of sight. You really don't need a "get away" car but if you do there's no need to spend an arm and a leg on it that will only be for a short period of time.

Where are you getting married? because in st. Augustine so long as you specifically say you do not want the "wedding carriage" its $85 for a whole hour and the only difference between the wedding carriage and a regular one is that the driver dresses in a tux with tails. My wedding planner works with brides on budgets all the time and knows that particular trick. thats actually what we are doing, having them pick us up and take us to where our car is parked. booked and out the door $85

cmartoglio: What company did you go with? We are getting married at the White Room in St. Augustine...and I really do not care if the driver is in a tux. Can you please give me the name of the carriage company you are using? $85 is doable for me! Thanks!

Country Carriages is who my wedding planner said to go with- they do have prices specifically for weddings but they work with budgets and if tell them you are flexable on which horse and carriage and or dont care if driver is in tux they will help you out (but also dont forget a small tip for the driver as well). I would think its also a possibility to play the different companies off one another but that is more work and you might only save like $10. Hope that helps!

scratch that .... I tried to set up exactly what I described with them and they wouldnt do it for under 125- its avalon carriages that is willing to do that... $85 and that includes taxes all they need is a credit card number and exact time for pick up and location and they dont even run the card number until after the ride. talk to will he was the guy who hooked it up 888-857-4152 is the number
