Rain Location?

Ok, so the Farmer's Almanac is out and it looks like there is a chance that next July 10, it could be raining.  I'm getting married on the beach (or so I hoped!) but now I'm thinking it would be smart to have a rain location.  Any ideas in southern maine?  Our reception is at Mariner's, so something in Portland that is cheap or, dare I say, free would be fantastic.Any of you other outdoor brides have any contingency plans?

I cant help you out I dont know anything about halls & such in your area. We're getting married on the covered bridge, so unless its a hurricane we will be all set to get married there still. If for some reason we cant pull it off we will just get married at the reception hall. What does the almanac say for June 19th? Im scared to hear lol.

Our contingency plan is a room at the Regency Hotel & Spa, where we're having the reception. Unless someone else wants that space at the same time, we don't have to pay anything for it. But again, we're having the reception there, so it's not as big a deal for them to give us the space. I think, if someone had wanted that space, we'd have right of refusal or we'd get charged $250 to use the room.Good luck!

Can you have the ceremony inside Mariners church or would the turning over of the room be too chaotic?

I wonder what the museums and library and public places like that have to offer. Merrill Auditorium must have some smaller rooms too I would think. A lot of those buildings are beautiful and I would think they would all be interested in making more money. You probably want to start snooping around now. Good luck.

There was someone else on this board getting married at Mariners who decided to just have her ceremony there as well. I'd think it would be much easier on you to just use your reception venue as a rain backup plan than to try to find (and pay for) another space "just in case".
