Has anyone had their reception at the Old Red Farm Inn in Little Harbor, Wareham? If yes, where did you do your ceremony? I'm thinking about using the beach down the street but I'm wondering if it will be too windy or have seaweed.

Don't have any experience with receptions at the Old Red Farm Inn, but I live in Onset and go to Little Harbor Beach all the time so can tell you about the seaweed and wind!  It is a great beach for walking, exploring the shoreline, enjoying the view, etc but it is a natural-state beach and the sand is not raked.   There is generally quite a bit of seaweed and eel grass on the sand up to the high tide line.  Lots of rocks, shells, snails, etc at this beach (I usually wear shoes when going in or near the water).  The top of the beach near the parking lot is generally sandy though, and the view is BEAUTIFUL at this beach. Depending on time of year and time of day, Little Harbor Beach can be very windy (top kite-surfing area!).  Early in the day is generally okay, but after 2pm the wind can whip.  It gets somewhat crowded during summer weekend days but not crazy, as it is a town resident-only beach and an alternative to the very crowded public beaches.  Good luck!

i grew up right near this place, the downside is that they are not able to get a liquor license, which ruled it out for me entirely. no alcohol at my wedding would make for some unhappy guests! Little harbor beach is awesome. There is the sacred heart sancutury which has really nice views and land right down the road from the old red farm inn that may you allow to do something with them, not too sure.

Thanks for the replys. We're going to check into a couple local churches in case we decide to go that route for the ceremony. If it's not too windy we could always do photos at Little Harbor. We're going to using a bartending service with a traveling liquor licence to get around the fact that the venue doesn't have its own licence.  Any thoughts on a local florist who isn't too expensive?

I've been to Old Red Farm Inn a few times (delivering wedding cakes).  It is a very nice, colonial property- just keep in mind it isn't always the cheapest option because you need to bring in everything (every fork, knife, linen- even bathrooms)!  What I really liked about the property is the ability to have cocktail hour in one area (patio) and dinner in another (under the canopy). Parking is a little tight.  Recommend It's Thyme Catering too!
