I am getting married in July 2012. I have always dreamed of a beach wedding in the sand.

I am planning a small, inimate ceremony (<20 people guests & wedding party). I would like recommendations for a specific beach perferabbly with stairs to walk on to the beach to. After the ceremony, I am planning just a dinner and cake. Could anyone recommend a restaurant that is good and most preferably with dancing? I am not hiring a DJ due to the small size of my group.

I would really love to use a hotel right on the beach, have the dinner at the hotel restaurant so there would be no travel involved. But any recommendations would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows of a rental house that would fit the bill, that would be great as well.

H and I looked at Camp Geneva in Holland - it sounds exactly what you're describing. It's right on Lake Michigan- you can get married on top of the dune overlooking the beach/lake, or down on the beach. It's beautiful. I would definitely look in to it!

There are a lot of cool restaurants in Holland that you could look at, too. I had my reception at the Alpen Rose - we rented their larger ballroom (about 100 guests) but they have smaller rooms/spaces for smaller groups.

Took your advice and emailed Lake Geneva. The replied to me telling me they no longer do weddings and/or wedding receptions. Just letting you know as I see that the camp is recommended often.

Dang!! That's terrible!

Be sure to look through the Vendor Recommendations thread at the top of the board... if I remember right, a couple of girls who posted had beach weddings. You might find some ideas.

I'm also getting married on the beach and I wanted to have the reception by the beach. Anyone have any ideas of where I could set up a wedding tent near the beach? Somewhere between south haven and ludington?

There are a few places around Grand Haven and Holland that might work for you:

Ventura Pines Cottage in Holland is a gorgeous cottage right on Lake Michigan. The cottage has space for an outdoor event for up to 100 guest outside (can put up tent) or 35 inside.
