We have had a few requests for a thread where everyone can introduce themselves and we can all start getting to know eachother better. I love the idea!

    Alright, I'll go next! :)

Hi, I'm Bethany! I grew up in the thumb of Michigan and came to MSU for school. The student position I had turned into a part-time one after graduation, then a full-time one, so I never left! I met FI junior year through a mutual friend, and we've been inseparable ever since. After graduation FI worked for New York Life as a Financial Service Professional, and this year he went independent. We live in Lansing.

Since I've basically lived here for the past 7 years, I decided I wanted my wedding in the Lansing area. (FI is from Holland, so this is like meeting in the middle for both families.) Our wedding date is coming up fast, September 11, and I've been feeling the nerves/excitement this month! :)

Hi! I'm Gail.  I'm a Mother of the Bride and my daughter is getting married on 7/29/2011.  She met her fiance at the Breslin Center during an MSU basketball game in 2001 (they were both in high school) and they've been together ever since.  Now that they will be finishing college and grad school (MSU, of course), they are getting married.

I was born in Baltimore and grew up in Niagara Falls, NY.  I came East Lansing many, many years ago to attend MSU, and I never left.  I met my husband, who is a Lansing native, and the rest, as they say, is history.  I am an environmental engineer and when I'm not working or wedding planning, I'm an avid MSU sports fan.

Can't wait to get to know you all.

I'm Michelle, I'm from a very small town right by Lansing and FI, Joe, is from St. Johns. We are getting married in under 4 weeks!! I work at a credit union and FI works for a warehouse. We met through a mutual friend when I was a junior in high school. I love wedding planning...sometimes...I'm kind of at the point now that is not enjoyable, everything needing to be paid, last minute details. If you have more than 6 months left before your wedding, enjoy it! Because once the one month mark hits you have no outside life :)

I'm Kari and I grew up in Holt.  I went to MSU for college and I have always loved the East Lansing area, which is why I decided to get married at the MSU Alumni Chapel. My fiance is from Philadelphia, but has family scattered all over the country, so they would have to travel no matter where we had the wedding.  I currently work in Human Resources for the Home Shopping Network and my fiance works for Bank of America and as a DJ at a local radio station.  We currently live in Tampa, FL, which is where we met on a blind date.

We are so excited to be coming to E. Lansing for our weddding!  Getting the vendors lined up was a breeze, since we took suggestions from various wedding professionals in the area.  I'm pretty confident that we found great people to work with.

I'm Liz and my Fi's name is Todd.  I'm originally from Minnesota and moved to Michigan to attend MSU.  Todd and I began dating our Sophomore year and have been together ever since (it'll be 6 years next month!)  After graduation, we moved to the Detroit area.  I work in higher ed and Todd works in auto financing.

Todd is about the biggest MSU sports fan you could ever meet which for the most part is a lot of fun (except for when we lose!)  We get season football tickets every year with his family so I'm trying to schedule some vendor meetings before the later tailgates (hello cake testing!)

We always knew we would get married at the MSU Chapel and will be having an MSU-inspired wedding (colors are green and white).  I keep reminding Todd that this is a wedding not a tailgate!  I was nervous when I first start planning (last September) but so far it's pretty fun!  Only a few stressors but nothing major.

I'm glad to be getting to know the Lansing Ladies a little better!  And it's nice to see some fellow spartans :)

    Hey all!

I'm Nikki and my fiance is Sean.  I'm from Lansing, I went to Eastern (Suzie, I think we went to middle school together... :0)).  My FI is from Leslie.  I went to college at CMU and Sean is finishing up photography school in Santa Barbara, CA. (He's doing portraiture...weddings, seniors, families, etc...)

Unfortunately, he's way across the country (and has been since last April), because I teach first grade near Battle Creek.  We knew his stay in CA would be temporary so I stayed with my job and we've been doing the long distance thing for way too long now.  He'll be back at Xmas for good, HOORAY!!!!!

We really wanted a fall wedding so we're waiting till next October.  I'm enjoying the wedding planning, but am trying to get lots done before school starts.  I'm working on my Master's at WMU and really don't have time to plan during the school year.  Next October cannot come soon enough for me!!!

Hi! I'm Michelle. I live in Lansing and have been here my whole life.
My husband, Rance, and I have been together 5 and a half years and were married June 4th, of this year (coming up on our 3 month anniversary!).

I am a Massage Therapist, and I work in a salon in Grand Ledge. My husband works for Johnson Controls. I have a 9 year old son we are raising together. We are fanatical Red Wing fans, and our seasons are determined more by preseason, regular season, post season, or off season, rather than summer, fall, winter, or spring.

I had a blast planning my wedding. I did a lot of DIY projects, and crafted most of my decorations. I had so much fun doing it, that I haven't been able to stop! I've still been making bouquets and escort cards and boutonniers and everything else and have thought about starting a side business selling my creations. Right now everything's just sitting in my corner though. At least it keeps me busy!

Hi everyone! I'm Krista...my fiance is Terrell. We have been together for 7 years, 8 by the time we get married. :) I am from a very small town near Lansing, and he is from E. Lansing.

mwohlfert  - I'm pretty sure we may be from the same town, and that you might be my MOH's cousin :)

Anyway, we actually met at our summer job while we were going to school. I graduated from CMU, and he went to Ferris. I got my degree in sport management and he is in engineering. After graduation, we were in the area for a while, and then he got a job offer in Ohio. I followed him out there about 8 months after he moved, and I was there about a year and a half. We actually moved back to Lansing last October, and are very happy about it! I liked the town we lived in in Ohio (Canton) but it's nice to be close to friends and family.

We are both huge sports fans as well. I, like michelleymydear, am a huge Red Wings fan. I am also just as big a Tigers fan. Terrell is more of a football and basketball guy.

We are getting married 10-1-11 at the MSU Chapel. I'm so excited :) We've been together for so long, I can't wait. We had hoped to get married this October, but with the move back from Ohio, it wasn't really possible financially. But good things come to those who wait, right? :)

kmwingluvr - what is your MOH first name? Did you graduate from PW?

Hi! My name is Karyn and my FI is Adam. I am from Detroit and my FI is originally from St. Johns but has lived in Lansing for about the past 8 years or so.  We have been together almost 5 years.

I graduated from MSU and while I was there I met FI through mutual friends. He is currently finishing up his degree at LCC and works at Android Industries.  I work for a lawyer in Ann Arbor but plan on getting a job in Lansing and moving there sometime within this next year.  He has 2 kids so I will be taking on the duties of stepmom and wife all at the same time, but I'm excited.

We are both huge MSU sports fans and are very excited that we get to be married at the MSU chapel next fall.

I am new to the knot so I'm trying to get the hang of it.  I am really not that into wedding planning, but I'm trying (because of course my mom is), so any tips anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Great to meet everyone!

    Hi everyone :)

My name is Jessica and my FI name is Cameron. We both grew up around the Lansing area, Cameron graduated from Holt in 2005 and I graduated from Waverly in 2006. Cameron then went on to get his degree from Olivet College in 2009, and I am still working on mine at Grand Valley State University. We just bought our first house out in Lake Odessa which is a HUGE change for a city girl! However, the land is perfect for our one year old Old English Bulldog, Bubba!

We are currently very busy planning our May 7, 2011 wedding trying to get as much done before school starts back up for me and football and wrestling season starts back up for Cameron as he is a ref. Everything is booked and or ordered except for our invitations and honeymoon! We are having our reception at Eagle Eye and would love to hear from any other brides doing the same thing!

Can't wait to get to know each other a little more. thank you for starting this thread!

Good Luck to everyone whose wedding is coming up!

Hi, my name is Jodi and my fiance's name is Eric.  We're getting married June 17, 2011.

I grew up in the thumb of Michigan and graduated from Bad Axe HS.  Shout out to "phill369" - us thumbies have to stick together.  I then went on to Michigan State University and never left the Lansing area.  I teach in a Lansing area high school.  I also am the marketing director for the school and take care of all the PR and publications.  When I'm not working, I'm coaching the varsity cheerleading team or working on freelance graphic design and website builds.  I absolutely LOVE Michigan State sports and I'm sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for Spartan football to begin!

My family lives in multiple cities throughout Michigan and my parents relocated to Orlando, Florida so Eric and I decided Lansing would be a good neutral location for our wedding.  We are getting married at The Chapel at Hawk Hollow and having our reception at Eagle Eye.

We've finished all of our date sensitive planning and are both going to try to enjoy our upcoming school year (he's also a teacher in another school district) without getting to carried away or overwhelmed, nonetheless we're both very excited!

    Hi!
My name is Megan. I was born in Canandaigua, NY, spent a couple years in Grand Blanc, spent a long time in Lapeer, then moved to East Lansing in 2004. I met my FI in 2006 at a Lansing Lugnuts game. :)

I work at the MSU Bakery and do specialty cakes/ cupcakes on the side for fun. I am finishing my last year in Animal Science at MSU, and raising our 2 year old son. Life has been very good to us.

I look forward to hearing from other Knotties in the area!!

Hi, my name is Shannon. I am originally from Detroit, but I live in Okemos now. I attended MSU and am back in the area for my job, which is MSU-related.

I will be marrying my fiance, Corey, on Nov. 13, 2010. Our wedding will be in Detroit, and then I'll be leaving the Lansing area to live with him in Ohio.

I'm in the home stretch of wedding planning, and I can't believe I didn't find the Knot message boards earlier! I would have loved to meet all of you at Eastwood today.

Maybe if you meet again before my big day, I can stop by. Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi everyone. I used to frequent this board more often a few months ago when I first joined TK, but it was relatively quiet so I'd been spending more time on my month board. But I'm hoping to get to know more of you!

My name is Stephanie. I'm from St. Louis but I just made to Boston a few weeks ago. Love it here. I'm attending Suffolk University to earn my masters in Communication Studies.

My fiance Tylor is from Holt, MI. He's finshing up his last year of school back in MI before joining me in Boston where he'll be pursuing his PhD in Economics. (Yeah, we're dorks...)

We're getting married in the East Lansing area next August, and I couldn't be more excited!

    Hi everyone,

My name is Ashley and FI is Cody. I am from Kalamazoo going to WMU for my teaching degree. Cody is from Grand Ledge and graduated from MMI out is AZ in 2006 and then came back home. Where we are curently starting up our farm.

I chose Lansing because it is about and equal distance for both of our familys to travle. We are getting married at the MSU Rose Gardens on September 15, 2012. My dad is having a really had time paying MSU so much money as he is such a Uof M fan.

I am trying to get almost everything done before next fall starts up since it will be my final year and i will have to do my teacher internship some where in the southwest area so i really wont have much time to do anything very close to the year mark.

I hope to get to know everyone very well!!

Hi!  My name is Sarah and I'm originally from Okemos and graduated from MSU in 2003.  Marshall is from Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from Valparaiso.  We both met and currently live in Miami, Florida, but don't want to drag our families all over the country so we're coming home to get married!  Our wedding is at the Hawk Hollow Chapel on August 20, 2011 with the reception at the Hawk Hollow Lakeview Room.

It's been a mission planning from so far away, but I'm lucky to have very helpful parents to run reconnaissance missions for me!  I'm so excited to get married where I grew up, and Marshall has quickly become a Spartan, so he's enjoying every chance to make a planning trip up north.  Just hopefully not in the winter time!

    It's nice to meet everyone!

Hi! I know this is a little late but we've finally decided on a date.  October 21st, 2012! My name is Kristin and my Fi's name is Dan. We both graduated high school in 2003; him from Eaton Rapids, me from St. Johns. Currently living in Lansing with plans to settle in Mason.  We started dating in 2004 and just celebrated 6 years together the 21st of October.  Well, I'm finally going to be graduating from LCC next summer and he is starting at LCC this spring.  He hasn't actually 'proposed' yet but we have been talking about getting married pretty seriously for the past year and decided on a date. I'm hoping for a ring by Christmas! Came to this site trying to get ideas so we can pay for the wedding slowly and get advice from other Lansing brides. Nice to meet you all!

I guess this is old but I'm just seeing it now so I'll add my info :)

Hi, my name is Emily, FI is David.  I'm also a Lansing girl, born and raised, graduated from Sexton in 2000 and was on the swim team with Susie (hi Susie!)  David is originally from Orlando.  He now lives near St. Paul and I live in NY.  We met on an airplane 3 years ago and have maintained a long-distance relationship ever since.  This is his last year of school, graduating with his MDiv in May!  We're getting married 2 weeks later and then he'll join me in NY.  We chose to get married in Lansing because all of my family (there are a lot of them!) still live there.  7 more months!

Welcome Kaity-  Take a look at the sticky note where other brides have recommended their vendors, you can get a lot of ideas from there.

Also, for internet safety, if your user name is your full name, you should change it.  Unfortunately, on the Knot that means making a new account, but it would be a good idea.

Hi! My name is Tiffany and my FI is Jonathan. I'm from Linden, MI (very small town 20 miles south of Flint) and he's from Sterling Heights. We met during our junior year as Michigan State students (at a bar... so romantic... lol) and have been together since. We now live in Royal Oak. I'm going to medical school at Wayne, and he is a project manager for a construction company in downtown Detroit.

We decided to have the wedding in East Lansing, since that's where we fell in love : ) We both LOVE msu (we even named our dog Kedzie) and the wedding is going to be June 30, 2012 at the MSU Alum Chapel... Reception at Eagle Eye in the Lakepoint room.

I'm so glad I found this board! As a med student, I am really busy with school, so I need all the advice/tips I can get. I'm so excited!!!!

    Welcome Tiffany. Congratulations.

My daughter is also getting married at the Alumni Chapel. It's a beautiful place.

Check the sticky notes on vendors for information on vendors that other brides are using and be sure to ask any questions you have on anything you don't see listed and we'll be happy to try and help.

Good luck and enjoy the planning.

Hi everyone! My name is Cassandra. I was born and raised in southern CA, moved to MI a bit ago. about to graduate from MSU along with my fiance. we've been dating since 07/09 and we got engaged a year later in Japan on 07/28/10.  Our wedding isn't until 06/12 because his family is coming from Japan. We haven't made solid plans on anything yet, but in my spare time all I do is read magazines and blogs to get good tips. We have looked at tons of vendors and we won't make a decision until this spring so we can book it a year in advance. For our wedding we have a lot of saved costs, like my mother bakes amazing cakes and baked goods, she is also a graphic desginer and will help with the invites, and his father is a photographer, and one of my cousins fathers is a DJ, so already we get to save money! I am so blessed. Basically my big thing is saving money because right after our wedding and honeymoon we are moving to Japan! I would like to have a wedding and honeymoon for around 14K. I'm also trying to save big on a wedding dress because I hear that is the easiest thing to do. I've been looking since october and I've fallen in love with the lacey-romantic key-hole back style. I love the designer jim h. I guess I joined so I can get tips, help, and advice from people! I am the youngest in my family but the first to get married so my mother doesn't really know how to plan weddings well because my parents got eloped.
