The ceremony and reception are at the same place.  Ceremony won't be long, 15-20 minutes I'd imagine.  I don't think it'll take too long to take pics after.  There won't be alcohol if that matters.

But you are taking pictures after the ceremony? Will you be going off-site to do that? Are you having a "cocktail" hour, even if there won't be alcohol?

Here's what I'm thinking. Your ceremony will be done by noon. You could host a dry cocktail hour for your guests - they should be able to have someplace to sit, something to drink and nibble on, and some music playing. That can go from noon-1, which should give you plenty of time to take pics, especially if you're going to be taking any of them before the ceremony. Then you could serve the meal at 1.

I'm having a ceremony at 12 and have asked the caterer to have food ready by 12:15 - I anticipate the ceremony will be finished in 15-20 minutes.  We're doing photos before the ceremony so as to not inconvenience my guests.  It's a buffet, so I expect that people will mill about some then filter in and get food before sitting down, but I'd like them to have food available when they're ready.

Define food. Appetizers or the meal?

Either way it should be served as soon as people can get through the receiving line, go to the bathroom, and find their seats. I really don't like cocktail hours. Especially if they don't have anything to eat or drink.
