We are trying to decide between Anthony's Steakhouse and Durham. Being from out of town, Anthony's is appealing because they do all the set up, decorations, and cleanup, allow you to be in the ballroom until 2:00am, and you can get your stuff the next day. The Durham on the other hand it really unique place, but you have to find an outside cateror, decorate prior, and have to be out with everything by midnight.
Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

The only good thing I know about providing your own vendors is pricing. How many people are you looking to have? sometimes that makes a difference.

Anthony's is a little blah. I would go for Durham if I were you and there are places that will come in and set up and tear down. I think Anthonys is very ho-hum and really it is just a restaurant with a few rooms in the back. I have never been to a wedding at the Durham but I have heard it is amazing.

We were set on wanting to have our reception at the Durham but it got booked while we were trying to figure out all the details and logistics on rentals and caters and pricing yo see if it would fit in our budget. We went with Anthony's which has a beautiful recently remodeled ballroom space and Becky has been great to work with so far and you know the food will be good. In the long run it's probably best we found ourselves out at the Durham because Anthonys will be a lot less stress to coordinate and very nice. If you have time to decide ask Becky at Anthonys when the next upcoming wedding is scheduled and you can go see it all set up it's so much different when it's set up for a wedding then when it's split up for separate rooms! I go all the time to get ideas! Good luck with your decision either will be great!

Thanks for the replies! We ended up deciding Durham. We felt like Anthony's was a out of the way even though it would be less stress. Both places are awesome, but Durham suited us better. Can't wait!

I was personal attendant for a wedding at the Durham. It was really pretty and they were quite helpful with making sure everything was set up and were on standby for when we needed extra tables and chairs. The acoustics are a bit interesting in the Great Hall, and you will need to have everything mic'd if you want anyone beyond the first row to hear. It was a beautiful place to be, and gave the guests a place to wander and explore when they wanted to get up and move around.
