I don't see the first part of my reviews. The post is there, but when you click on it, it is blank. I'll give it another try...
We had a fabulous day! And this would not have been possible without you Knotties! Thank you to all of you, especially the marrieds who stuck around to give us some great advice based on their experiences!
I know I gave a lot of A’s to my vendors, but I had no major issues with most of them. They all showed up, which was a big fear of mine. My reviews are a little long, but I tried to include all of the details that may (or may not) be of interest to you.
Delta (A)
We flew non-stop from Detroit to Vegas. Our flights left on time and arrived on time. Many of our guests flew Spirit, and they seemed to have a lot of issues. I’m glad we paid a little more for our flights and flew Delta since we had no issues with them.
Palms (B-)
This was the first (and probably the last time) I will stay at the Palms. We booked a Grand Suite for five nights, and got an awesome deal thanks to a friend of ours. We paid $99/night on the weekend, while the rack rate was hovering around $550-600/night for Friday and Saturday. We were also able to secure a very affordable room block here for our guests, which most of them took advantage of. Our suite was nice with a living room, bedroom, 1.5 baths, and a nice view of the strip. It was in the Palms (older) Tower, so not necessarily the most modern room, but it was fine for us. The bed was so comfortable!
However, during our wedding weekend Diddy, Flo Rida, and 50 Cent hosted parties at the Palms. This was also Cinco de Mayo and the Mayweather v. Cotto fight weekend. The night of Diddy’s party was insane. They had no method of crowd control, and people were gathered near our tower elevators on the casino floor – I assume waiting to get into Rain. We had to push our way through the crowd to our elevators – it was crazy. Thankfully the next night they had barricades and police on the casino floor, which made getting back to our room a breeze. We also heard a lot of noise in our room from Rain, but it really didn’t bother us since we were so exhausted by the time we got back to the room each night.
The day we were leaving the elevators weren’t working due to a fire alarm the night before. We had to take the service elevator, and for that, they comped our resort fees for our entire stay.
On the plus side, I like the fact that the casino is small. Navigating your way through here around is typically a breeze. If you go on Senior Thursday, watch out for the people with walkers and wheelchairs – they are everywhere!
Next time I think we will stay on the strip, as it is more convenient and will cut down on cab fares. The Palms does have a free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes and takes you to Caesars – I forgot their operating hours though, but I think it ends at 8pm?
Fit for a Bride (A)
We shipped my dress and FI’s suit to Debi via UPS. She called immediately upon receiving. She dropped everything off the day before the wedding at the Bell Desk. Our garments looked fabulous!
