Our guest list just got ka-razy. Now we're expecting around 75 guests, which throws our idea of an in-suite reception out the window.

Are there any restaurants that have private rooms that will hold 75 guests? Am I wrong about the suites? (I couldn't find one that would hold that many, but maybe my Google-fu is weak tonight.)

Also, someone posted a link to a website that would help me search for restaurants based on capacity and price range. I don't think it was UrbanSpoon, but it was similar. I can't find that link anywhere. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks. :)

Were doing the trevi at caesars palace, italian. We get the whole 2nd floor. Its a really cool space. overlooking the trevi fountain in the forum shops. Heres some pics and prices so u can get an idea of what u'll be spending. You can do passed hors d' oeuvres or a sit down meal. Something to think about too is distance from ceremony to reception. Too far means transportation.

One more vote for the Stardust suite. That's where we had our reception last year for 85 guests and everyone fit comfortably.  It was the best decision we made.

I will have that guest count most likely, we are having ours at the House of Blues.  It comes with a food and bev minimum though.  Depends on your budget.

Thanks! Was it hard to book? We might not be able to get it since we're closing in on eight months to go.

The catering looks very reasonable.

One more Stardust Suite question:

I read on another site that the suite is free as long as you meet their F&B minimum. Is that true? If so, that's a HUGE deal.

There are many that have the capacity for 75, but, you know the question; what kind of budget?

I think the suites at THEhotel would work. I want to say that there was a bride that had around 100 people in the E (or L) suite. We had about 50 people at our welcome reception in the E suite, and we could have easily fit in 25 more people.

Yes that is true.  The minimum was $3500 and you can include your food, bar and cake too.

We booked the Stardust suite 6 months out and they were open for us.

They were great to work with and even allow a DJ as long as you let them know ahead of time.

The room has more of a lounge feel to it.  Not so formal as a "sit down" or "banquet" room would be.

One issue to consider with putting that many people in a suite is that if the suite is not a 'hospitality' type suite designed just for parties, typically the A/C system is not up to the task of keeping the temps reasonable if you have 75 people in there.

For restaurants in the $75/pp range, check out Fleur, China Grill, Border Grill and RM Seafood at Mandalay; all have private areas large enough and I think can get you in that budget, possibly even including booze depending on the restaurant.

There are a few restaurants in Caesars' forum shoppes area that would also be worth looking at.

Maggianos would work too.

Thanks for the tip about A/C. I'll have to ask about that.

I'll check out the restaurants too. :)

Thank you for the links! :) Trevi was on our short list a while back, but I wasn't sure about capacity (we only had 30 guests at the time). I'll have to call them again.

This all depends on the day of the week and time... As I'm having a Saturday wedding and an evening meal they told me it was a $1500 minimum before tax and gratuity and this was for their semi private room.

For our Sunday reception, Michelle told me $1000 before tax and gratuity.  That was for the Mezzanine level, semi-private.  Weird that there are so many different minimums lol maybe it has to do with dates?

Yeah I'm not really sure because that's one of the first things I emailed her was about the food minimum because we have such a small group and I wanted to make sure we could make the min.

I think a lot depends on the date, time of day, number of guests, and the area you're reserving.

For example, if I have 30 guests and someone else has 100 guests, it doesn't make sense to assign a flat $1500 minimum. Otherwise, you'd have groups of 100 taking over a large portion of the restaurant and ordering nothing but appetizers. Not that it would always happen, especially in the case of a wedding, but minimums help prevent that very occurrence.

Thank you, all, for your wonderful input. After much discussion and minor slashing of the guest list, we are hosting a reception at Firefly.

FI balked a bit once I showed him how much $75/pp would cost once tax and gratuity were included. ;)

I'm so excited! I've heard wonderful things about Firefly, and I can't wait to try their food when we go on a mini-vacation this spring.
