Indecision - MB Ceremony location

So FI and I got back from our scouting trip a few days ago.  We looked at 5 different hotels for our ceremony, and we agreed on MB.  My struggle is picking the location.  I really like the Valley of the Falls location, but is it really worth $1650 extra (we need more than 50 chairs)?  The cheapest package that allows us a Saturday date is $1800 already.  That means that just to have it in that location is $3450...and I still want to get flowers for the bridal party!  It's only 15 minutes...

I was all set to book it, but the longer I draw out the package decision, the more questions I have and the more I doubt my decision.

One of my concerns with the Valley of the Falls package is that it adds another hour with Cashman onto the basic package.  I have every intention of booking Tyler Freear (and have already spoken with him).  I don't want to waste everyone's time with photos I have no intention of buying.  Can I forgo my Cashman time?  I don't expect money back (though that would be awesome!).  I just want him to leave after the ceremony...

Re: Indecision - MB Ceremony location

  • I'm probably not much help but we are also booked at the Valley of the Falls location and I too struggled with the extra cost.  We have the Eco Chic package which I no longer see on their website, but it was $2850 for us.  I am also unsure about this Cashman thing so I'm curious what others have to say about this.  I actually just got an email from them the other day trying to schedule the photo viewing time with us the day after the wedding.  Anyway, I think the Valley of the Falls location is simply beautiful, however so are the chapels and I'm sure in the end you will do what's right for you.  Best of luck!

  • I got married last year at MB VoTF. It was a great decision. I did not like the cost at all, but it is really a beautiful location. It's very easy to get rid of cashman. They shot the ceremony, then he wanted me to get our group together for formals. I told him we did not need any more photos as I had Mike L. for our wedding day. He left. It was that easy! You will not get any money back but it beats having to pay big money for those cashman photos.
  • Oh, and both of you get ready for the high pressure sales pitch. They had all the photos printed, a photo book made, and a DVD playing with the photos. The lady then tries to get you to buy them. I was so curt with her because we had family still in Vegas. I didn't want to sit and be pressured to purchase pictures!
  • The first location I saw when I started researching Vegas weddings was the VOTF location at MB and I thought to myself that is where I am going to get married!  But after a scouting trip down there and seeing how beautiful the chapels were we decided to go the cheaper route and just book the silver chapel.  I personally don't think the VOTF is worth the extra money.  You can always get your photographer to take pictures at the VOTF location.  I am glad I went the way I did because costs are really starting to add up (flowers, decor etc.)  Flower prices at MB are outrageous BTW!  I booked an outside photographer to start right after my ceremony.  He will take me all around Mandalay Bay and to a few locations on the strip.

LOL, you should have snatched the DVD out of the computer and ran; those things are evidently worth $4600!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

Definitely agree with that.  We weren't required to use their floral since we were not using their chapel but since the wedding was at MB we inquired thinking it would be the easiest option; it took about four weeks to get an accurate quote out of them and the price ended up being about four times higher than The Palette.

  • VOTF was my initial Vegas wedding site. Well, I really wanted the beach at MB, but I could NOT justify the extra expense for the 15 minute ceremoy. Even the VOTF was too much. In the end, I did not go with them. We are still considering the Vista Suite at MB, however.

Personally, I wanted control of my photpgraphy (hate sales pitches) and thought the money could be better spent elsewhere.  I will let you know that a while later I got an email from the WC offering me 10% off whatever package I wanted if I booked it within 48 hours. I want to say it was about a month later...

  • Now I'm thinking if it's possible for me to have my ceremony at Caesars Palace Juno Gardens and then have Todd take some photos at the Valley of the Falls location to save a little .
  • I can't comment on whether it's worth it but I can comment on why I chose votf. I didn't want to get married in a chapel, I wanted to be outdoors. I plan on ditching cash man as well and use Todd for our pics. Btw for those with votf packages....if your original package isn't online anymore since they change them pretty often ... You can contact your coordinator and change yours. We are doing the sun kissed bliss package but initially booked the opal shores with votf upgrade. She let us change a few months ago and we fit a limo ride and hotel room for same price we were paying. My coordinator Jaimie always has responded super fast. Who is yours?

We have Aleena. That's interesting. I'm curious to know the difference between the eco chic pakage and the sun kissed bliss package. I can't seem to look at it on my phone right now but I'll have to check in to it later because we also have the limo ride and a room on the honeymoon night as well.

The eco chic package sounds awesome.  I might have to ask my coordinator if it's possible to still get it even though it's not listed online.  It's on their wedding request form.  That counts, right?  ;-)

She did get back to me and said that I can request their photographer to shoot for just the ceremony and use my outside photographer for everything else.  They just have to put a note in my file.  I won't get money back for the time I don't use, but at least I don't have to take my portraits twice that day...or pay $4600 for the high res files.

Thanks for the tip on their flower costs.  I may have to find a realistic-looking silk alternative or opt for the chapel to save room for the inflated costs.  Do you remember how much they quoted you for bridemaid bouquets or groomsman boutonnieres?

</div><div>So your MB coordinator confirmed that it's cool with them if you cut Cashman loose right after the ceremony and use your own photog to do the family formals in VoTF?  This is what we were planning as well, but we were going to kind of try to be sly about it (I already cringe at the fact that I'm going to have to buy ceremony shots from them-- we're not buying our family shots from them too).  But if MB is cool with it, I'll tell them that now so they know.  Who is your coordinator there?</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I looked at the original Opal Shores worksheet I got, and prices might be different now, but on the worksheet it says:</div><div>-$28 (and up, depending on selection) for pin-on corsages, $30 (and up) for wrist corsages</div><div>-$10 (and up) for boutonnieres</div><div>-For "mini" (bridesmaid/MOH) bouquets: $55 and up for rose or "spring mix" bouquets, $60 and up for tropical bouquets.  It says the spring mix consists of "a variety of different seasonal flowers in the color scheme and style that is specified", and the tropical consists of 1 lily with dendrobium orchids.  HTH!</div>
  • My coordinator is Kaylan.  She's been super nice and very accomodating, especially answering questions that are maybe against etiquette to ask.  Before I contract, I just wanted to get it out there.  (Does this make me a bridezilla?)  I didn't get the impression from her email that the request was going to be a problem.  However, some past Knotties have mentioned in their reviews that they don't always follow all of the requests notated in the file.  I felt a little guilty asking, but if I can focus Cashman on taking just ceremony pictures, I might be able to justify buying the digital negatives later (assuming less photos = cheaper).
