Looking for swanky, cool hotel venue in nj!

Hello!

So I've decided that I want a cocktail hour wedding with apps being passed around all night since I feel that a sit down dinner breaks up the dancing (and lets face it...a lottttt of wedding food is decent, at best). I wanted to have the wedding at a really cool, modern, place where we can just drink dance and munch appetizers all night so it doesn't break up the night too much with sitting down for three courses. But now I'm lost on where to look! If anyone has any helpful ideas on Venus I would be most gracious. Thanks so much!!!

The date is flexible, I'd prefer maybe next August,September, but I'm down to change that..

Thanks!

  • Some of the more modern places I know of are in the Hudson County area.   Where exactly are you looking to be location wise and pricing?

A lot of the more modern venues are going to be more, but I did check out a few places in that price range within an hour from Edison.  They might not be as modern as your looking for, but they might be worth a look, though I'm not sure if they offer just cocktail receptions.  Every place we looked at offered sit down meals and buffet style dinners.

If you want, I can give you the names of the places we looked at.

ETA: I just did a google search for found the Palace at Somerset Park.  http://palacesomersetpark.com
And it appears to be in the more modern scheme.  But I couldn't find prices for you.  Not sure if they offer cocktail receptions though.

  • If you're looking for something moden, you might do better to look at a loft space. Usually that means that you have to bring in outiside catering, tables, dishes, everything. That can add up -- but if you are good at tracking budgets you could do something really exciting and cool
  • The Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick
    The W in Hoboken
The Bungalow Hotel in Long Branch
  • I'd love the places..thanks!

  • I third W in Hoboken. That's where I'm getting married. We are doing a full dinner though. I'm not sure what their packages are for cocktail-hour only.
