DEFINITELY look into The Manor in West Orange.  It meets all of the criteria (FI and I were looking for the exact same things as you).

Here's an old thread that lists some venues that MIGHT be $80pp: http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_new-jersey_venues-start-80pp-less?plckShowLatestPost=1

Keep in mind "MIGHT" - it's from a magazine, so a lot of times the magazine will only list the absolute lowest price you can get, which might be on a Thursday afternoon in February or something with no open bar. I think this list is a good jumping-off point, though, so you can at least get started on some research.

One of the lowest price quotes we got was from Galloping Hill Inn in Union. I think that may have been around $65pp. We didn't consider it because we didn't like the person we met with, and also because it seemed like there was a lot of interaction between different parties (there was an event going on at the time and it was LOUD and the clientele didn't seem the classiest). But, from what I've read online, once you get in the ballroom it's O.K. and the food is decent and there seems to be a lot of it.

Another $65pp quote we got was from The Tides Estate for a Friday night in March 2010 for the smaller/downstairs ballroom. That'd probably put you around $85pp once you factor in tax and gratuity. We almost booked it but we switched to an April date because the March date was during Lent and my irish Catholic family might've frowned upon that.

Bridgewater Manor runs a lot of deals where you can get lower prices for winter weddings and for Saturday afternoon weddings. And they only charge 8% for gratuity, whereas a lot of places charge 15-20% or more.

And like I said in a previous thread, the Hilton in Hasbrouck Heights sent me a proposal for $90pp all inclusive for a Saturday night in March 2010.

Look on the websites for The Tides and Bridgewater Manor. They have short-term dates where you can save money if you are willing to plan something for less than a year out. We've had lots of girls on this board plan lovely weddings in maybe 6-8 months. If you can make quick decisions, this might be a good option for you.

Also remember that winter weddings are often much cheaper than summer weddings.

Mayfair Farms - West Orange, NJ

There are a TON of bridal shows coming up (American Bride), I highly suggest going to a few. FI and I have hit up 2, and are going to a 3rd... we get so much information at them!

Do you want to get married in a church or at the venue?  That might help narrow down reception locations and available dates.

I recommend the Bridgewater manor. They are constantly running promotions. There is a nice area outside for the ceremony. Lots of food, open bar, only 8% gratuity and a gorgeous venue. We are paying under 90 per person with tax, gratuity and ceremony

I also recommend looking into Gran Centurions in Clark. They had some good deals for around $60 (before tax and grat) and the food is pretty good. They charge extra for an open bar but it will fit into your budget. We didnt choose Gran Centurions because we are having a small 80 guest wedding and we did not like the smaller rooms. The large room is very nice. They will have up to 3 events at the same time but only 1 is wedding.

<div>That's a good place to start then, since you have so much flexibility on dates and venues, I would start looking within a certain radius of the church where you plan to have the ceremony.  I think it's always nice (not a requirement) to have the venue close by so your guests don't have to do a lot of traveling in between.  Where is your church, it might help us give you suggestions</div>
