The host of the wedding doesn't have any recommendations for you? That's really weird. I'd call the host first to ask.

agree. usually there's a block of rooms at a hotel nearby. call them and see.

DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!!

That's pretty standard for Long Island hotels. I mean, I'm sure you could find a Holiday Inn Express or something for cheaper, but you'd probably be a pretty far drive from the wedding (there are a good number of "budget" hotels near MacArthur airport, which is in Islip, but "Islip" actually covers like four towns, so I have no idea whether staying near the airport would be close to the wedding you're going to or not).

No that is not always the case..My wedding is on saturday of memorial weekend and I got a block at the Huntington Hilton for $149 for Friday and Saturday night stay. If they guests stay into Sunday and Monday I was told they couldnt match that price..My in-laws to be booked the Marriott Residence Inn in Plainview for $139/night. My suggestion would be to call around and see what if anything is available at this time.

This totally. I grew up 2 towns over from slip and I never heard of a hotel for $240 a night. Ask the host though there might be a hotel close by she can recommend and proceed w caution the hotels on long island under $119 might not be reputable. Good luck

Maybe its due to the holiday weekend and summertime. For our wedding weekend, our hotel (the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge, which is not too far from Islip), will be $98 a night. However, it is not a holiday weekend, and it is not summer.

BTW we are also Eric and Jess!
