any of you brides ever planned a wedding in the poconos? I'm planning a late fall/early winter wedding and I wanted to ask coz I'm also thinking of a poconos wedding, it would be cheaper I think. But I'm asking from a New Yorker's perspective. How you organized the transportation and stuff....and any venues over there..

any thoughts, ideas, and advice would be extremely appreciated.

Hi my cousin got married this fall at Skytop in the Poconos. It was really beautiful grounds and I know that she paid nowhere near what typical NYC weddings cost.

I am from New York, but lived in the Pocono's for years growing up before I came back. As far as venues, there a quite a few nice places. Skytop Lodge, MOuntain Springs Lake Resort, Pocono Manor, Stroudsmoor Inn, Woodloch Pines are quite a few popular places that are all very pretty. As far as price, I will say that they are still pricey at these places during that season. Yes you may pay a little less than in New York, but its not like its 50% or anything. A friend of mine got married at Skytop back in October of 2009 and she paid around $104 per person. It all depends on what package you select. Happy planning!
