Hi ladies - I generally post on the NJ board but my sister just got engaged and is having a destination wedding pretty soon (sept/oct 2012) and Im looking to throw a small get together (similar to a bridal shower or small engagement party) for 30-40 people, brunch is possible but cocktails are a must. I emailed a bunch of regular NYC weekend brunch places but does anyone know of any that could accomodate this size and for really cheap - like $30PP? I am also open to renting out empty spaces/lofts where we can bring in our own food but so far that seems to be even more expensive. Any suggestions would be great!

Have you tried Essex, Poco, Stanton Social or Lil' Frankies for brunch? I am pretty sure they all have private areas.

Are you only obligated to stay in NYC? I know of a place in Rockaway Queens called Kennedy's. The place is beautiful and is on the water. They are also very reasonable in pricing.
