I believe the average time frame to send out invites is about 6-8 weeks, depending on the time of the year. Save the Dates are usually sent 6-8 months out. If you don't need the save the dates, don't worry about them.

You're about 5 months out, which is plenty of time. I planned our wedding in that amount of time. You just have to stay organized and on top of things.

I would suggest start looking for BM dresses at least to get ideas. Some dresses don't take much time to come in when ordered, but some can take 3 months. It all depends on where you get your dresses, who makes them and how detailed they are. I'd honestly suggest looking at department stores and places like Marshalls soon, because their spring dresses will be coming out and usually have a good variety of sizes and styles.

Don't stress, you're fine! :)

Ditto that.

If your wedding is a destination wedding, you can go as much as 10 weeks before for sending out the invitations, but otherwise 6-8 weeks is the norm.  That gives people about a two week turn around for RSVPing.  Long enough to figure out if they'll be able to come, without making it so long that they forget to RSVP.

It's a good time to start thinking about what you'd like to do for bridesmaids' dresses, but you're not running behind.  What kind of thing do you have in mind? Matching dresses? Long? Short? Color? Style? This is an easy place to recruit the help of your girls too.  If you haven't decided because you're not sure, then tell them that.  It's fine to say "Hey, I'm thinking long black dresses, but I don't have any specific ones in mind.  Would y'all e-mail me some links to ones you like so we can figure out this bridesmaid dress thing together?"
