I want to get married in the portland area and am looking for a venue as well as good ideas for favors for my them and does anyone have any ideas on alcochol ettiquette for a wedding im having about 1

The only set in stone alcohol etiquette rule that I have seen repeated and absolutely agree with is that cash bars are an absolute no-go. :)

As for venues...it kinda depends on your price range. Abernethy Mansion (I think that's what it's called) might suit an Alice in Wonderland theme in terms of landscape and scenery (it's big and green and garden-y) but from their photos, all their weddings look the same. :P

Alcohol Etiquette:

Don't let guests have to pull out their wallets. Host whatever you can afford.

- no alcohol, host plenty of other drinks

- limited bar; beer & wine; beer, wine, signature drink; Champagne toast; wine on table; etc.

- fully open bar

Some people would prefer to be able to buy the alcohol that the couple can not host. I am not one of those people (but I am also a beer drinker, so I'm usually good everywhere). You know your guests, what do they like to drink? Do you need a full bar? Or will they be happy with beer, wine, and a signature drink or two?

I think the rule is about 2 drinks the first hour and 1 drink per hour after that. But I think they have alcohol calculators that you can find via google. Your venue might be able to help too.

I think decks of cards would be really neat favors for an Alice in Wonderland theme! You could get customized decks made. :)

The majority of McMennamins locations are cheap and have that antique Alice in WOnderland feel to them.

As for alcohol stuff... every cash bar I've seen has killed the reception. People just leave. We are doing open beer and wine. I've even seen just open beer. Its only a couple hundred for a couple kegs and really keepas the party going.
