I have been looking for dresses online and have been recommended to some boutiques in the Portland area.  Many of them have the dresses that they carry posted online, but without prices.  I have found some dresses that I love, but have no idea if they are within my budget (most likely not :) ), and I have looked on the designers' website, same deal.  I'm afraid to set up an appointment with a boutique without knowing any prices, and ending up wasting everyone's time if I can't afford anything in the shop, or at least nothing that I like.  David's Bridal seems to be the only place that posts prices online (since you can order online), and I haven't had much success finding something I like.  But it's good to see what I can fit in my budget.

Any ideas on how to approach this?  Call boutiques in advance and inquire of their prices?  Any other Portland stores that post prices online?

Thanks!

What is your budget?  I know most places do carry a wide variety of prices, especially if you're sticking to places like Bridal Exclusives, Charlotte's, etc.  Some of the pricier boutiques downtown and in the Pearl may not be able to help you, but a quick call would tell you for sure.  Just tell them that you're interested in looking there but weren't sure if they'd have dresses in your price range.

Originally I was hoping to stick to $500, but talking to some of my coworkers and showing them what I'm interested in, sounds like it will be more than that.  I'm not very good at sticking to a budget, but I also have no idea what things cost in the first place so setting a budget has been difficult.

I have looked into trunk shows, and heard that sometimes you luck out and find the perfect dress that's a sample, or off the rack.  I was originally thinking a summer 2013 wedding, but am also considering September 2012 (because I don't want to wait so long).  If we decide September then I should probably step up my game and get things figured out!

I've been recommened to Charlotte's, but sounds like Bridal Exclusives is similar?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you could probably call up the salon (when you go to make the appointment) and ask them what the dresses cost.

David's isn't actually that bad. I was not impressed until I went in, and then I fell in love with a dress that I am now saving for because it's out of my budget. xD

Despite that, I have an appointment at Charlotte's on Tuesday. I'll post here with what I find there (in terms of budget, since ours is about the same)  if you'd like.

Next weekend is the Brides Against Breast Cancer sale.  I've heard of people getting some pretty stellar deals there.  http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/index.php/charity-wedding-gown-sales/events/

You're definitely asking the right questions! All of the store PP have mentioned do carry dresses in your price range, although they may not be what style you are looking for. So my best recommendation is stick to your budget, move things around and settle on something else that isn't as important to you (flowers, favors) if having a more expensive dress is more important. Go, try on, eliminating styles is never a waste of time either!

Im really in love with designer fashion and I went  to Davids Bridal and got my oleg cassini dress for 600 dollars, davids always has great deals going on and of you buy with them they give you coupons for tons more money off so its like the dress payed for itself
