So with my budget already almost fully committed I am stuck on my centerpieces and flowers for the wedding... I was thinking of ordering flowers from an online vendor (or from a sam;s club) and doing it myself but I am not the most artsy person! So, any recommendations on a cheap florist - or someone who can help me with diy flowers or centerpieces...

Also, do ppl rent vases and if so where would i get those?

Sue

What colors are you thinking for flowers? Also, you can save a little money by selecting a flower that is in season.

I have yet to meet a cheap florist -- I'm trying to fit bouquets, bouts and corsages into a $500 budget and even with simple flowers it's not happening so I'm DIY-ing through Costco.

If you keep it simple, you don't have to be artsy to make a nice bouquet or centerpiece. Are you firm on flowers for centerpieces? We're doing vases filled with teal-colored water and a floating candle and having tiny vases with sprigs of flowers. I was just checking out rental vase prices and for simple square or round you're still looking at $2-$4/piece. You can buy with 50% off coupons at Michaels, etc. or hit yard sales and collect for much cheaper. Our garage is filled with vases right now :)

I think you're the one planning from afar, so I'm assuming you might need something less time-consuming??

When is your wedding??

wedding is sept 1st. colors are white yellow and blue. I was thinking of doing 3 cylindircal vases in 3 different heights with a tea light and maybe surrounding the base of the vases with a simple flower like plumeria? I found a vendor who can send me plumeria flowers for pretty cheap. what do you think?

I found a boquet I love online.

Bridesmaids are not carrying flowers. its just not in the budget.

I am doing all the planning from afar, and i have a ton of OOT guests so the days before the wedding will be pretty hectic - dont want to spend hours getting floral arrangements ready.

Floral Designs by Heather Ann http://www.floralsbyheatherann.com/ is the cheapest I found-she works out of her home so she doesn't have the overhead of a florist shop. She might be able to do it in your $500 budget, it will depend on the number of centerpieces you need. I was quoted $25 for some simple blossoms floating in water with candles and wrapped leaves. She has a few different kinds of vases you can rent from her for a minimal fee. And you can pick up the flowers from her home and same yourself $75-100 in delivery fees.

I am sure Karen's on Country Road could work with your $500 budget too!

Most florists can keep things within your budget range if you tell them how much you have upfront. THey will tell you right away what they can do for how much you have and steer you with certain cheaper flowers and arrangements. Try the above places that people mentioned and just get an estimate telling them your budget total for flowers.

Or you could do flowers from a farmer's market which are often cheaper than Sam's. BE careful doing your own flowers. You have to keep them a certain temp. My cousin did her own arrangements for her wedding the day before and put it in a refrigerator. They ended up wilting the night before.

If you want to be safe and cheaper try silk flowers. MIchael's runs good deals.
As far as vases go you probably would just buy them as the same price as renting. You could try a wedding rental place (Eagle Rental is one) but I really think a place like Home Goods and Susquehanna Glass (the basement with the imperfect glass) have great prices.
Also http://www.save-on-crafts.com/ has great prices on decor things such as vases and other centerpiece ideas.

You might want to try Weddings and Blooms in Mechanicsburg (www.weddingsandblooms.com).  I didn't have a huge flower budget, but Leah really worked with me to get exactly what I wanted.  I am really happy with the price!  Let us know how it turns out!
