Bands and Hotels

Hello!

My fiance and I set our date on August 17, 2013 at the Cescaphe Ballroom! I am from NJ and need some help from people who are firmilar with Philadelphia... Does anyone have suggestions or reviews on BANDS/DJ's that they booked, used, or have heard at weddings in Philly?

Also, I wanted to know if anyone knew affordable hotels that they blocked off for their guests that are close to the Cescaphe!

    We are blocking rooms at the Omni in Old City. It is a very nice hotel and a decent rate. I think it would be good distance wise for a wedding at Cescaphe.

    I blocked rooms at both the Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard in Center City.  it was a bit difficult for me since my wedding coincides with a City-Wide convention but both hotels have been great to work with so far.  In terms of a DJ, I'm using someone from the DC area (where I'm from) but they're traveling up to Philly for our wedding.  They did the same for my sister's wedding which was in Delaware.  Even with the travel fee, they are very reasonable ($900) and only charges $150 more for Projector and Uplighting which is a great deal.  They recently did my friend's wedding in October and did a great job.  Uplighting looked awesome as well.  I can send pics if you want.

    Yeah, it can be hard sometimes because of conventions in the city. If you are able to get rooms the price can be very high.. So I would say its never too early to block your rooms..

    Where is your wedding? Would these hotels be close enough to the Cescaphe Ballroom? Also, what transportation are you using for your guest to/and from the venue?

    I'm using The FM Band...they are so great, so much fun, and wonderful to work with. I wanted a party band, as opposed to a traditional wedding band. They play everything from Sinatra, to Beach Boys, to Springsteen, to gaga. I saw them at a wedding and booked them the next day!  


    Oh, I also have hotel blocks at The Belleview and Marriott Downtown

    We're using CTO Heat http://www.ctoheat.com/ - The management is super easy to work with and I really love that they're high energy and not typical. At their showcase, they played Journey, followed by Etta James, followed by Lady Gaga. So much fun!

    As for hotels, we're doing The Four Seasons, Sofitel and Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown. There are a few different Marriott properties in the city, but I liked this one the best because it's cute and historical looking and right across from City Hall so it makes for a pretty convenient location. These may not be convenient for you if you're at Cescaphe unless you're busing people. Our reception is outside the city and we're busing everyone so I didn't really worry about proximity. We're using Philadelphia Trolley Works for buses (they have really nice coaches for the cheapest I was able to find) and Secrets for limos.

    I'm getting married at the Cescaphe Ballroom this May.  We blocked rooms at the Loews and are using Silver Sound (Steve Croce) for a DJ.

    I'm getting married at Tendenza which is just a block away from cescaphe. We are using the cescaphe trolley for the guest transportation to and from the hotel. It's not too far at all if you map it out....maybe 2 miles? WLevine- when did u work there? We probably did meet! And yes, the rates I'm getting are a lot higher than usual because of that city-wide. I locked in my room block over. Year ago because of it.

    Ysl- whats the name of the band? The Tedenza is very close to the ballroom so I am curious as to what Arrangements your making for your guest... Are you offering transportation to and from the hotel?

    I second the recommendation for the FM Band!  I was married on 1/14 at Ballroom at the Ben and they are AMAZING!  

    We booked our rooms at the Loews Hotel and they were also great to work with, very accommodating!
