JOP vows- suggestions where to go?
Hey Pittsburgh brides and grooms. Chat here about the best tips, Knottie GTGs, and wedding planning in your area.
No date set yet, my first his second. I am not one for all the glitz and glam of a regular wedding. Likely it will be a JOP ceremony and then a nice dinner and cake at a favorite restauran

No date set yet, my first his second. I am not one for all the glitz and glam of a regular wedding. Likely it will be a JOP ceremony and then a nice dinner and cake at a favorite restaurant for our families. I am stumped as to where to have the ceremony as i think having it at the restaurant is tacky. Any suggestions...I am thinking an October wedding. Going traditional w/ flowers and cake but nothing else really. Thanks in advance!

Any magistate's office should be able to do it. My dad and stepmom went to the one in Squirrel Hill.

I think you're looking for a nice place outside of an office setting for a JOP ceremony, correct? If the JOP is willing/able to travel to another location, you could maybe check out Mellon Park along Fifth Avenue in Shadyside. The park is obviously outdoors, and the weather in October can be on either end of the spectrum--absolutely beautiful or snowing. I think there's only a nominal fee to hold a wedding there ($100-$125ish). Just something to consider.

yes, you are right. I am looking for suggestions of a nice place to have the vows. I mentioned October because i have always wanted a fall wedding. We live in the south hills and i'd like to keep the ceremony and dinner close to each other. Still not sure where we will have dinner. Just wanted to see what others would suggest so i had some options. The park sounds nice! Tks

In that case, you may want to look into renting a facility at South Park. Mellon Park is at least 30 minutes (on a good day) from most of the South Hills.

I know this probably isn't close, but we're getting married at the Hyeholde. We're having the ceremony outside (or inside in case of rain), then having dinner their after with our family. Our total guest list is under 15 people.
We were looking for kinda the same thing you were, and happened to find the Hyeholde.
