I have a relatively petite band with diamonds around half of it and spent about $600

Mine was around $1100 I think.  It is platinum with 13 prong set diamonds.  I think the TCW is around .8 carats.

I'm so sorry I realized after I posted this that this was confusing.  I was looking for guidance on a band instead of a dj so a music band for a wedding not a wedding band.  So sorry!

I am having Steve Anthony and the Persuasion, I think they are excellent and have horns as well.  They play at Twin River, 1149 and 1149 East (Seekonk, MA), so I would suggest going there and checking them out.  I believe they play almost every weekend.

They tend to start off with some older songs (as that's the crowd they have at these places), but after the 1st set it's all new, hip stuff and they do an excellent job of playing the songs.  I spoke w/ Steve and he is learning our wedding song and said he will play whatever we want, very flexible, so you don't have to worry about having old music all night, unless that's what you request.  I would def check him out and talk to him, he is an amazing emcee and gets the party going.

Budget wise - they are a bit more expensive than a DJ. When I have gotten quotes they have been around 6k but the bands that I have really enjoyed have a large group vs a couple people.

We used 747 Orchestra.  They were our best vendor choice and kept the dance floor all evening.
