Hi ladies! We've begun sorting through photos we'd want in a wedding album and looking at the prices for our photographer. It looks like it's going to run us about $1500-2000 for a flush mount, 12x12

Hi ladies!
We've begun sorting through photos we'd want in a wedding album and looking at the prices for our photographer. It looks like it's going to run us about $1500-2000 for a flush mount, 12x12 album. Does this sound about right, in your experience? For those who went the professional route vs. make your own (shutterfly or snapfish), was it worth the expense to you? I made our parents' albums on these sites and they were lovely, but perhaps not as well done as they would be professionally done. Plus I can't touch up photos like I'd like (bra straps showing, etc.). Your advice and thoughts are most welcome! Thanks!

I am one that believes a professional album is worth it.  Yes, the pricing is slightly absurd but the amount of design and touch ups that go into it may justify it more than I could ever appreciate.  There are websites where you can do the design yourself and get the professional album quality, I just don't have the time or expertise to do that.  I also feel like you a hire a photographer for their creativity, the photos show it but the album is also their final presentation.

We will do our parents' albums through snapfish or one of the other sites but for us we wanted one professional one that would hold up and be archive quality.

Hey ladies...I have a tip for you all! My best friend did not go with her 2000 dollar flush mount photo album from her photographer - she found this website that does flush mounts that you design yourself...she got the LARGEST one and it was less than 500! AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL....

check it out...

She totally recommends - her album took about 2 months to come in from when she ordered it...I guess you upload your pics from your photographers CD that they give you...I am definitely doing this :)

I don't like the heavy traditional flushmounts so I opted for coffee table layflat press photo albums which have a more modern look and feel. They are a lot less expensive than traditional flushmount albums. It is a less expensive option if you are still going the pro route.

As for non-pro photo books, check reviews before you decide to use Blurb, shutterfly, mypublisher, mpix, adormapix, ect.

I love the flush mount albums.  I find them to be timless and just a stunning way to look back at your wedding!  One of the selling points about our photographer is that his package included one and it was not over priced.

I plan on making albums for our parents and grandparnts through Shutterfly or Snapfish

If you opt out of the flush, out album, Adorama's albums are super nice. I am a pro, photog and use Adorama's for my personal stuff...
