So our plan is to host a "welcome dinner" rather than a rehearsal dinner for about 100 guests, but we're having the hardest time finding a venue that is both available and affordable. I can really only see paying about $300 for the venue, maybe $500 max since we'll also be paying for a catered dinner. (If the place requires that you use their caterer we'd like to stay under $1500/total cost, otherwise we already have two caterers in mind that we'd probably use).
Does anyone have any out-of-the-box suggestions - maybe colleges or community centers that rent out rooms, etc? We've already looked into the parks (we have some elderly guests though and the dinner will be in mid-July, so they're concerened about the humidity and heat) and I've sent off e-mails to all the obvious ones that Google suggests, but I'm running out of ideas :(
