I've called and emailed the local courts and people in charge of issuing marriage licenses... No one will give me a straight answer! Can a friend who becomes ordained online marry us?! Should I go with back up plan B and get married before the actual wedding? I've heard a notary can perform the ceremony... But I don't know any notaries... And we want our friend to do it! Help!!!

Any notary can marry you - they don't even have perform a ceremony technically. You can bring them your marriage license, they can sign it, you/or them can file the paperwork and bam you're done. Have one of your friends become a notary, it's easy. Or the bank usually has notaries, or the post office? I wouldn't go the "ordained" online way, some of those can be a scam.  If you really want her to do it, ask her to become a notary :). It's a win win for her and you! haha

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately none of us live in SC, and the court told me that he has to be a SC notary. We have a friend who is an NC notary, and even that isn't ok with them... ha...

From my understanding an ordained minister can marry in sc per the website
http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/faq.html it states a minister of the gospel which an ordained minister is.. I am planning on marrying my mother there this summer I am ordained if you are looking for a non scam site http://www.themonastery.org/ordination-form#notice is legit Its free to get ordained you just have to pay for your cert which is $8 and i ordered the marriage ceremony handbook if any of your friends are intrested i am not on this board much if you have any other questions feel free to private message me.

We had  a hard time getting a real answer about this too. We ended up asking a guest who is a notary to sign the paperwork after the ceremony. A non-ordained person performed our ceremony.

Thanks Kayleigh! Our friend got ordained, and we are going to ask one of my FI's old co-workers to sign the paperwork for us I think... just to make sure we are married... haha
