This board has been so dead lately! I am getting married in a mere 23 days! My FI and I are actually going down to the probate court today to get our marriage license! Here are some "pre" reviews on my vendors thus far.

Venue - AAAAA!!
Westin Poinsett in Greenville - Contact, Sarah Locke
Sarah has been so so so so so helpful. I couldn't ask for more. She is responsive, and understanding, and is great at what she does. And the hotel is gorgeous. And the food is DELICIOUS

Photography - AAAAA!
Mark Lopez - mlopho.com
Mark is just starting out but he is amazing, his prices are so reasonable, he is friendly, fun, I just get a great vibe from him! His website has some great galleries too!

Flowers - AAAAA!
Publix at Wade Hampton - Denise
Denise used to do the flowers for the Biltmore, enough said.

DJ - AAAAA!
Life of the Party - Robert Batson
Robert is a greatly reviewed DJ for many reasons, he has so much energy and pizazz and he is not too over the top! And he wont play electric slide if I don't want him too :)

Bridal Salon - A!
Dimitri's - Greenville
I had such a great experience, but I got my dress last January, so I don't remember too much :)

Alterations - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Jane - She does this out of her house (I got her via a recommendation)
Jane has been so wonderful. I cant say enough great things about her. The bodice of my dress is completely covered in beadwork, and she worked tirelessly to make it look perfect! It seriously looks amazing, and she did the coolest bussle ever!

Officiant - AA!!
Michael Abraham - SC Ceremonies
Michael has been great, he incorporated all these crazy ideas that FI and I had and created a BEAUTIFUL ceremony for us!

I know about the deadness! I come on here to check periodically and there's just nothing! I'll be checking out Denise from Publix for my bouquets. Another bride had recommended her a few months back so I put that on my list. How long before the date did you speak with her? I'm trying to figure out when I should go up there. My wedding isn't until September 22nd and I only need my bouquet, 3 BM bouquets, and possibly 4 bouts. When do you think I should speak with her?

Another thing: Can I get the number of Jane for alterations? 've been having SUCH trouble finding someone for alterations and just don't know anyone. I just need a few minor adjustments, but I don't trust DB with it.

Yay, I feel the same way. Thanks for the tips, I might check out Publix for the flowers, I have them on the list for a cake tasting, and I might need somebody for alterations. 23 days huh? That is awesome, I am so ready to get married. I will wish for super awesome weather for you and I can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Thanks girls! :) I forgot to put my cake up there (duh!) We went to Kathy and Company in Greenville - holyyy crap her cake was amazing!

Morena - Denise really only needs two weeks or so. She orders from the same wholesaler as the local florists do. All of my vendors are in Greenville, except Jane, she is in Columbia, is that cool? I will send you her number if you would like! I'm not sure where you live :)

I'm using Jane as well (and she is FABULOUS!). She's going to Ireland (where she's originally from) the week of February 20th (just a FYI). I'm not sure how long she's going to be out of the country.

Hey Gals!! SO I am a little less that 4 months out (holy cow!!) and I can't believe everything we have to do!! We've made some changes the past couple of weeks - going from a big ceremony to a private one, and having the reception catered instead of DIY. But now I need a ceremony venue, and I need a caterer. But I'm not from Greenwood....I live in Greenville, so it's next to impossible!! I just want to pull my hair out!

BUT I just have to remember that everything will work out, and I need to quit stressing. But seriously!!

It is so sureal right now! I actually just went and picked up my dress. fits like a gem! I have 15 things left to do on my TK checklist! wow! The only things I "really" have to do are finish the seating chart and make escort cards. Besides that, everything is done!
My mom and FMIL are getting on my nerves just a little bit, but the good thing is that I don't live near either of them so I can simply "IGNORE" their phone call at any given time! My mother was giving me crap about not knowing when people were getting to town. Hello? am I seriously going to babysit 100 adults? no. they have the date and time and I just assume they will be here by that time! I reserved a block of rooms so I did my part.
If I can give any advice - spread things out! Don't try to do it all at once, that's the only thing that worked for me. I started a new job in October which was probably not the best idea, but I guess I work better under stress :)

We're using the same photographer and so far he's been fantastic - I would highly recommend him!!

Also, would you mind passing along Jane's contact info and giving me an idea of what she charged you for some of the alterations you had done?

hahaha! This. We have venue, photog, dress, officiant some decor done. Working on food, cake (tomorrow) and DJ. It's been fun, but kind of tiring too. =P

We're actually going to a cake consultation tomorrow for Buttercream Bakehouse. I saw them at the Sept. Wedding Festival and their cakes taste AMAZING! Plus, their prices seem pretty reasonable so fingers crossed that we can get a good deal. =) As for DJ, I have a friend who hooked me up with Vic Thomas. I think the company is Alley Cats, but their website is GVegas. The friend is the guy who'll be actually DJing at the wedding and Vic gave me a great deal so we're trying to finalize details and get the contract signed. =) How about you?

We are getting married outside so no DJ. Haven't decided on cake yet, but have a few places to try, yum! I saw the buttercream bakehouse at the expo this Saturday, I had one of there mini dessert things, it was very good

Hmm... I don't know. That's a little far. Maybe I could hang out in Columbia for the day while she worked? I wonder if that would be possible? Do you think she'd be flexible like that? And is she worth it? How are the prices? I know it varies, but I want to have cups sewn in, take up the hem and bring in the bust.

Hey girls - I just picked up my dress from Jane yesterday and am SO pleased with everything she has done for me! I bought a sample dress off the rack, so I needed the bust brought in, the bustle put into the dress, and a hem. Let me tell you, the bottom of my dress has lace that runs up along the dress at various lengths, so Jane took the lace entirely off the front before hemming the dress itelf and reappling the lace. That could not have been easy, and it looks exactly like it did when I bought it! You cannot tell it was altered. I had 4 different fittings to get it all done. Each time, she was so flexible with our meetings and was an absolute joy to be around. I told her last night that she has been one of my favorite parts to the whole wedding preparation. I took several of her cards so that I can spread the word, and I will definitely take any future items that need alterations to her. With all the work I had done, she only charged me $325. That's an absolute STEAL!
