My son and his fiancee are having a destination wedding in the hill country. They want to do something other than the usual bottle of wine, box of candy type welcome gift in the rooms at the hotel where guests will be staying. The couple is a little quirky and a lot of fun and they want something that kind of reflects that. What are some clever/unique things you've seen or heard about for guest welcome gifts?

I can't think of anything quirky. Here is a list of things that you can put in a gift basket:

post cards
maps of Austin and Surrounding areas
Guide books
deck of cards with instructions on Texas Hold Em
Book on how to speak Texan (link)
Bag of Austin Nuts
anything with Keep Austin Weird on it
blue bonnet seeds with the book on their legend (link)
Indian paintbrush seeds with the book (link)
Texas beef or buffalo jerky
a jar of bbq sauce from Rudy's or Stubb's or anyplace really
cookie cutters that are in Texas or other interesting shapes
something UT and A&M
Tortilla warmers and taco/ fajita seasoning with a recipe on how to make tacos/ fajita's
I know it's wine but get Llano Wine
small pecan pies
