I've been engaged since Christmas, but my cousin is planning on throwing us an engagement party in late April/early May - mainly so we can do it outside at my grandmother's estate. Also, I just found out that one of my bridesmaids who lives in Florida will be in town the first two weeks of May for her brother's graduation.
That being said, we would be holding my engagement party on May 5. Is it weird to have a party on May 5 in Texas and have it NOT be a Cinco de Mayo party? I feel, especially because it's on a Saturday, people are going to want to have margaritas and celebrate. Ideas?
I figure we can still do the outside, carnival-theme engagement party my cousin wants and maybe have like, a taco bar and a margarita machine. Ooh maybe we can hire a mariachi band. LOL
NOTE: No I am not throwing my own e-party, I'm helpng my cousin plan it.

Really hard. But I wanna do that because I want you
- all of you, you and me, every day. Forever."

I don't think it's that weird. And Margarita machines are acceptable 365 days a year.

In Response to Non-Cinco de Mayo e-party on May 5?:

No one in my circle has Cinco de Mayo parties and if someone threw a non-cinco de mayo party on May 5 I probably wouldn't think twice.
Agree with PPs though. Margarita machines are always good!

I don't think it would be weird at all. Like Crash said, I probably wouldn't think twice about the date.
May 5th is Derby Day this year--that would be a super fun theme to tie in too.

My wedding is on Cinco de Mayo and my guests know it's not themed that way. We are throwing in a margarita machine for kicks though. Not weird at all.
