I need a barn!!! : )

I'm getting married in May of 2010 and am looking to have my reception/ceremony in a barn/vineyard/orchard somewhere around Montgomery County (though I'm pretty flexible and can travel towards Lancaster). We're looking to have approximately 250 guests and were hoping to use our own caterer (too picky?)If anyone has any info on a rather inexpensive option-maybe a place that doesn't advertise weddings I would REALLY appreciate it.Thanks so much : ) Corie

It's not exactly what you're looking for (especially the bring-your-own-caterer part), but there are two barn-like venues I know of in the area: The Barn at Birchwood is in Collegeville and Normandy Farm is in Blue Bell.  Both are more traditional banquet hall-type venues, but each has ballrooms that are actually repurposed barns.  I have gone to a number of college formals at the Barn and it's quite nice; I was married at NF last month.

Again, not totally what you are looking for, but check out the Stone Barn in Kennett Square.  It's really gorgeous inside; we actually looked into it because of how pretty it is.  It may be too far, and you can't bring your own caterer, but the pricing wasn't bad and it is a BYOB, so it might not be too bad overall.

I can tell you Bella Vista is beautiful.  JEGs' cousin got married there about 4 years ago.  Stunning. The Barn in Collegeville is lovely too.  We really really wanted to look into it, but it's kinda of a hike for our guests.

My fiance and I just recently checked out Normandy Farm and were invited for a VIP culinary demo and overnight stay - it was fabulous! Definitely check it out; the Grand Ballroom would be right for you although you can't bring your own caterer. The food is pretty good though and price isn't bad.

Hey! I am getting married at the Barn at Birchwood in 3 weeks (YAY!) and it is just what we were looking for. However 250 guests is too many for that venue (i think max is 200) and I do not believe they will let you use your own caterer. But if you are willing to compromise you should go check it out because it is beautiful and my fiance and I love it!
