i know what you mean for my aug wedding I had an estimate of 1000 dollars which i thought should get me a decent photographer. no such luck. Have you consided asking any of the photgraphers if they cared if you hired someone under them to be second shooter. I would suggest hiring one main photographer for a lilttle less than your budget than a high schooler with a strong interest in photography for a career that's what I did You can get a highschooler to do it for a couple hundred bucks to help build thier portfolio. I actually am a photographer myself and i know i would'nt mind working with a younger photgrapher as long as whoever is the main photographer knows they are and the back up know he/she is just a backup and not to try to run the show. Another option is ask photographers you are interested in if they know of someone who would like to intern for them but keep in mind they will raise their price a little on you probably. Of course there's one other option cut back somewhere else to makeup the dif.

I thought my budget was $1500, but the cheapest I can find is $1800. It seems like $4000 is the norm here, and we're just not doing that. We are going to hate our pictures either way (we are not photogenic), so...why pay that much money?

I was super lucky to find my photographers! We paid less than $800. Our package includes our engagement session (which te pictures were absolutely gorgeous and we had almost 200 pics to choose from!), CD with those pics, rehearsal dinner pics, day of wedding from morning until the very end of the day, a photo booth, sheets of pictures (I can't remember how many exactly, all our pics on a CD, and copy rights to our pics. The photographers are sisters and are super fun. They made s feel so comfortable during our engagement pictures!

I was in the same boat..we didn't want to spend an arm and leg but still have nice pictures. I highly recommend Candidly Captured. They are out of Ohio but only charge a $50 travel fee if its in the Charleston area and the reception ends at a decent hour. There packages start at 950 and you get a free engagement session and two shooters with every package. We were so lucky to find them. If you do decide to go with them tell them Kaley Brown reffered you. Also they have a facebook so you can find them on there, they also have some of there work on there.

Grandinette Photography (http://www.grandinettephoto.com), which is based in Fairmont, offers a $1100 package that includes 2 photographers plus 1 videographer. If you were planning on having a separate videographer (you didn't mention that as part of the photography package you were seeking), you could maybe ask about customizing your package to either decrease the price or increase the shooting time if you take the videographer out of the equation. As for how much I'm paying for a DJ, I believe it's around $650.
