No, they’re not required…but they’re nice. Get ideas here for what won’t be left behind.

I was planning on making sets of tile coasters for everyone as favors, but after reading other posts I see that everyone suggests edible favors or no favors at all. Now I am second guessing the idea, because I have done 30 sets so far (4 per set) and it has taken quite a bit of time, and if most of them are going to be left behind I would rather spend my time and money on something else! Thinking back, the last couple weddings I have been to didn't have favors and I didn't even realize it until I really thought about it. Thoughts???

How many sets do you have left to make? Could you use the sets you have made, I don't know how personalized you made them, for a shower favor or something to that effect so they don't go to waste?

I am a bigger fan of either edible favors or photobooth type favors but if you are close to being done than I really wouldn't worry about it too much. If you have like a 100 left to go, you might want to consider repuposing the coasters and thinking of something different. You know your guests best though.

I still have a lot to make...I read one post where the bride and groom gave a set of coasters to each couple/family and they doubled as escort cards so they would know where to sit. I like that idea...but we aren't doing assigned seating so that wouldn't really work. My original plan was one set per place setting, but a family doesn't need more than one set so that would be a lot of extra sets. If I can figure out a way to get one set per family/couple and one for each single, I will stick with these and maybe a little edible favor at each setting.

Will you have enough time to get these done without stressing yourself out?

If so, make sure that people know you made them yourself (incorporate into a slideshow, or mention somewhere that you are busy making them so that the message spreads). If your guest don't know you put your own blood, sweat and tears into them, they won't value them as much.

I did tile coasters and people loved them! Every time I go to someone's house they are in use. People even asked me how they could make them so that they could give them as gifts. I made 4 tiles per set and gave one set per couple/family/single and tried to match the style to their taste/decor. Yes, it took a long time, but I had fun doing it. I did it while watching movies on the weekend and it was really fun. My coasters doubled as escort cards. We assigned tables and had each family's name on their set. For instance, "Jones Family, Table 4" or "The John and Jane Doe Family, Table 4".
