Arcade Fire for Father/Daughter?

Ok, so my dad and I have not always had the best relationship, in fact, we were estranged for several years. Our relationship is much better now, and I am very happy he is involved in my wedding, but we will never have the warm and fuzzy relationship that a lot of girls have with their dads.

I don't want to dance to a song that is all about how much I adore my dad and how much he has shaped who I am, etc etc, because honestly, that's just not true.

So my question: I really like the song "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)" by Arcade Fire and want to use this as a father/daughter song. It just a chill song that I like, and it's not like super sentimental or cheesy.

What do you guys think?

You know, I think you are right. I'd rather use it as like a last dance song. I'm sure there are non-cheesy father/daughter songs. Thanks!

I dont know if you would like this song at all but my father in law and I will be dancing to "My Wish" by rascal flatts. I am estranged from my father so i have asked my father in law to do the father / daughter dance with me.
Since my father in law obviously wasnt around as I was growing up we wanted a song that represented his hopes for his son & I and our future together.

    Good luck!!

Wow NewnImproved that is a really good song! I'd never heard it but I just downloaded it and I think it's perfect, especially since my dad is a big country fan.

Thanks for the idea. A big weight off my shoulders Laughing

my mom wanted me to do "my wish", but i see it as more of a sappy song, and we aren't a sappy father daughter pair.  We are dancing to Still Fighting It by Ben Folds.  It is technically about a son... but, oh well.  The first line, "good morning son.  i am a bird in a brown polyester shirt" totally gets me because my dad is a UPS man Smile.  It's a song about growing up and relationships changing rather than cry your eyes out, and i'm down with that.
