So when FI and I started planning our wedding we really wanted a band. We were going to go with a local cover band that plays around here and is very good (but pretty expensive). However, we have a friend who has his own band who offered to play at the reception. All of the band members are very good musicians but that haven't really gotten into the scene of playing for a crowd. They've done a few weddings, a show downtown and random parties. Initially I was worried, but FI kinda took the reins on this one and agreed to use them. After I saw them play downtown I was less worried and believed everything would be okay.

However, this past weekend the Best Man said he had been hanging out with our friend the guitarist who then told him that the band hasn't really been playing together because the pianist is away at school. And so now I'm freaking out....

The guitarist says that everything is fine and they're still playing once a week and they're just waiting for the pianist to get back, and everyone else is telling me I'm worrying too much.

But I know how the music at a reception can make or break a good time. I'm really worried about the situation and I'm starting to think I should just tell everyone 'sorry, but I'm just going to go with a DJ'. When we agreed to use them, I was under the impression that they would start getting a few gigs, so by the time the wedding came around they would have worked all the kinks out of their performance.

Has anyone else had to deal with something like this? What do you guys think is appropriate? Am I just freaking out over nothing?

Hi,

It is definitely important to hire a top notch professional band for your wedding or things can happen...

I have vaguely heard of them but I don't know what they do/what their costs are.
