My dad and I are extremely close - we've always had the daddy's little girl relationship and get along very well. We were discussing father/daughter dance songs and he suggested that we consider doing a slow song that turned into a fast, choreographed dance. 'Like to Michael Jackson' were his exact words! I think this can be fun in the right setting but I want my father/daughter dance to be unique in a more meaningful and serious way. The wedding vibe is an elegant folksy/bluegrass, and I was hoping to avoid anything too sappy or cheesy.
How can I tell him this without hurting his feelings? The man has given me everything, he means the world to me, so on one hand I feel like I should just do whatever he wants if it makes him happy. But on the other hand, he wouldn't be happy if he knew I wasn't having fun with it. Advice?

I'd just forget about it until he starts planning practicing it out. When the time comes and he starts planning just tell him you always imagined it being just a slow song or however you feel and you can't dance anything like michael jackson and don't want to make a fool of yourself, haha

I wouldn't wait to tell him that you'd rather just dance to a slow song. If he's to the point where he's planning actual moves, he could be more attached to the idea and could be more hurt when you say that you don't like it.

Thanks for your input, ladies. It seems to come from him not wanting to break down and cry during the dance. I'm going to talk to him about doing a non-traditional song to cut down on the emotional aspect of it!
