I love calla lilies. I can't say enough how much I love them.
My bouquet is going to be all white calla lilies & nothing else. (Not sure if I am doing the regular sized or minis yet.)

We are ordering wholesale & making our own bouquets because florist costs are ridiculous. The only issue I am having, is that I am not sure what flowers to use for my girls' bouquets. Our wedding colors are pink, black & white. We were going to do pink & white mini callas for them. I am not sure if I should do that, or do white & black callas. Or would that be calla overload?
I also like gerbera daisies & gardenias. Any suggestions on flower type & color combos for my girls? Also if we use different flowers for them, should we still do calla boutineres?

IMO, gerbs and calla lilies really don't go well together and gardenias are very sensitive and are not a DIY flower...you really need to know how to handle them to prevent brusing and browning of the petal.
I think an all pink calla lily bouquet for your girls would be very pretty and not at all calla overload. If you love calla lilies then use them, no one will comment on the fact that you are only using one type of flower...many brides on here do all roses or all gerb bouquets, bouts and arrangements. Sometimes the simplicity of one flower can be really pretty.

Get all callas... they are really easy to work with, hold up amazing and are super elegant. they need no other flowers in the mix...
all hot pink callas will stand nicely against the black and white.. keep it clean and classy.
2 pink callas in a snazzy Ikea vase or something will make great table pieces too...
They are so easy to work withthey will make yur DIY project a cinch....
A am talking ONLY about mini callas though for the bouquets... the big ones have super thick stems that can slpit ad bend and become problematic...

What color are your BM dresses? If they are black, I'd go pink callas, if pink dresses, I'd go black.

Florist prices are ridiculus? Nice generalization.
Florist prices are ridiculus= you can't afford to use a florist right? Or you didn't plan accordingly, the flowers are almost your last thing to deal with and your budget is gone. Yet you still want high end flowers.
I can tell you have no idea what a florist even does.
Also, you aren't buying wholesale. Are you tax exempt?? It's funny that you think you are buying wholesale because you aren't. If you think you are getting wholesale prices you are wrong again. Do you really think a true floral wholesaler wants to sell to someone like you (who knows nothing about floral, has no money and a takes up way too much time asking questions that should be directed to a florist) and charge the same as they charge a florist you are wrong yet again. Fifty Flowers and places like that are not wholesale. Funny you buy into that!
You seem clueless. I am quite sure you have no idea how to process and care for Callas let alone design with them and put together a wedding
Although callas are easier to work with, there is more involved and more to be considered than you seem to know.
You don't want to pay a florist/can't afford so you denigrate an entire profession, and yet you come on here looking for free advice. Your flower choices (especially the mention of Gardenias) tells me you are clueless. Luckily for you Callas are mostly very durable (although you know nothing about how to keep the stems from becoming soggy or how to tie off a mini calla bouquet without bending and ruining the stems ) so everyting will probaly be okay with that part. Design, shape color, photos and all that, well thats another story! Good Luck with that. I tell you right now, your bm ideas are a hot mess and you will be horrified 10 years from now when you look at your pictures. You must be quite tall if you are considering using standard callas for you bridal bouquet!

Gerbs are also not a great DIY flower. Their stems are weak and need reinforcement. Mini callas are also the same.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Callas make fantastic bouts because they are hearty and stand up to the abuse of men ;). Why not go all pink on the bridesmaids bouquets, OR a mix of bright pink and blush pink callas (they are my fav right now). I like monochromatic schemes, but it's your preference. Hope that helps.

I'm doing my bouquet as all calla lillies as well. But what I did with my girls is mixed white calla lillies with delphinium's (see below) - our colors are black, white and dark purple. I'm not sure if you trust your local grocery store florist, but I have a good friend of my dad's whose known me my whole life that is a florist at a Kroger here and she's doing mine. It was way less than a traditional florist store.
