Breakfast for dinner?

So my FI and I are breakfast junkies, it's our favorite meal of the day! So I'm trying to think of ways to make our reception special and the food non-boring and so I was thinking about doing a classy breakfast type food dinner with an omelet station, savory crepes, quiches, carved ham, that sort of thing. Has anyone ever done anything like this before? If not, what do you guys think?

Re: Breakfast for dinner?

  • I love breakfast anytime, and think this could be a fun idea.  However, I must agree with the ladies who suggested including breakfast items with other more "dinner appropriate" food options.  If you are doing a buffet, you would have different stations as people suggested.  If you are doing a seated meal, perhaps you would include the breakfast items during the cocktail hour with passed appetizers.
  • I love it!  If it reflects you as a couple....why not?  I do agree that it might not be bad to have a few more dinner things thrown in, but with all you suggested even picky eaters should find something satisfactory.
  • I'm weird and do not really like breakfast foods, so it would not be my favorite dinner choice.

But lets face it Denny's and IHOP sever breakfast all day long, so there is a market out there for breakfast at dinner time.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think its a great idea! :) its you and your FI's day. If thats what you want, go for it! have a variety of options. i think it sounds fun!
  • I am partial to breakfast food myself, so I would love it. I do know a lot of people who are quite the opposite though, so I would agree with PP's about having some other options.

  • I love it, but a lot of people can't stand breakfast for dinner.  Could you do some sort of around the clock theme for your food so that everyone has something, with a couple items from each meal?  Maybe something like omelets and waffles (breakfast), scones and mini sandwiches (tea), salmon and a quiche (brunch), deli sandwiches (lunch), a chicken dish (dinner) and brownies and cookies (dessert).

Oh, and if you're talking about a lunch or brunch time reception, I think that menu would absolutely be appropriate.  Just throw in one or two brunch type items.

Edit: Just realized this post is well over a year old.  Ugh.
  • Yeah, it's been resurrected TWICE.  I really don't get why newbs drag up these ancient posts.  According to her profile, OP's been married for a couple of months now.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
