So we put the deposit down for our cake and we're inviting about 80 people. We expect about 65 to come, but want to plan for 100% attendance. We have two options in sizes: one that could serve 72/74 and the other (we got) does 92. Is that too much? I mean, I thought about calling her and seeing about tweaking the servings to go back to 72/74, but I want there to be enough, ya know? What do you think?

I think what you are doing is fine. Some people may want seconds. And you can always freeze the rest, or give it away to family.

Talk to your baker to see if you can change the amount as the date gets closer.  I was able to change my numbers up to 5 days prior to the wedding.

Who doesn't like seconds or leftover cake?!?  I think 92 is fine. :)

If you keep the size you have but only 65 guests come, you can always ask your venue to cut the cake slices slightly larger so 1) your guests will get a nice piece of cake (that is a pet peeve of mine, getting a small piece of cake) and 2) you won't have as much leftover.

Thanks guys! I worked it out with my baker and she's going to make the bottom tier slightly smaller and it will feed 83 and be about $70 cheaper. =)
