Went to see another reception space today.  We had seen a couple country/golf clubs in the suburbs, and they were nice enough, but nothing was really jumping out at us.  Then we realized we're not really suburb people.  We live in the city, work in the city, and most of where we go to hang out is in the city.  So we re-focused our search on some more urban venues, and saw a space today that FI just loved.  On paper.

In reality, their large room is much too large (and expensive), and the smaller room is just a little too small.  Apparently having 65 people at a wedding reception is an incredibly odd number around here, because places are either too big or too small.  And we had such high hopes for this one, too.  It had such a killer view of the downtown skyline, and we were really looking forward to showing off KC to our mostly out-of-town guests.  So FI is a little crushed.

You know what, eff receptions.  I'm just taking everybody to Taco Bell.  Thanks for coming to our wedding; here's your 5 buck box.

I'm going to make macky cheese and go back to bed because I'm still hungover.

I'm sorry it's not working out. You'll find something amazing I'm sure!

Keillie- Sorry you're having a hard time with a venue. I looked high and low for something unique and not a fire hall or golf club. It was kinda tough.

Hang in there though because we did find the zoo. Enjoy your mac and cheese!

I am making Velveeta at this very minute-mmmm cheesy goodness.

That sucks, and high-five on the city people thing. It seems like even the smaller cities have caught on to the fact that if their reception site can be considered "urban" "vintage" or "hip" that they can charge an arm and a leg just because everyone is trying to get out of the hotel banquet room. Plus, the rooms tend to be beyond "intimate" and verging into "walk-in closet." Good luck out there, I'm sure you'll find something, Hike has just inspired me to call a zoo.

Ha ha ha, I looked up the zoo too!  It's actually pretty darn cheap to rent!  Going to check into this further.  :)

Try not to let it stress you out too much... The venue is the hardest part IMO, but once you have that one knocked out everything else just falls into place.

Definitely get back into bed with deliciously bad-for-you comfort food, though :)

I totally thought this was going to be about getting married for BAH and paying for a wedding. Lol.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

Ha ha ha ha ha no, we actually use his BAH to live on while he's in school.  Although I think it went  up a little bit this year.  Not nearly enough to pay for a wedding, though.
