National Guard contract renewal = Active Duty

My fiancee and I plan getting married after his Guard contract is up (A year and a few months) but he plans signing for active duty which is ripping to shreads what plans I had done. Which is causing me to stress out! Not to mention we keep fighting over colors. Help me!!!!

    Step one- BREATHE *hugs*

Getting married to an active duty soldier is possible. Do you know which part is messing up the plans exactly?  For the color thing; what my fiance and I did was went to Home Depot and gathered some colors of paint cards we liked. Then we went to the party store and found plates and things in the range we found. Once we could actually SEE the colors next to each other on plates it was much easier to settle. I think we were done in 30 minutes.

I'm sorry you're stressing, just remember it WILL come together

    Thanks *hugs back*

Planning with him in the guard was easier. Since he wants to go active right before the wedding is the hardest part. I am from northern ohio he is from northern kentucky. We now live in sothern ohio. If he goes active I have no idea where we are gonna be which is gonna make it difficult for venues. We are also having issues find a cake topper cause we want one reflecting him in uniform with a gas mask. He is a chemical specialist. We keep fighting about colors and what he is gonna wear. Ugh PAIN! I want him in his Class A's and he wants to wear a blue tux which again would change the colors.

    My Choice
    Army Green & Gold

    Justin's Choice
    Dark Blue & Silver

</div><div>The cake topper thing - that will be pretty hard to find in shelf stock. Check Etsy and see if you can find someone to make a custom one for you.</div><div>
</div><div>Also - if your FI wants to wear a blue tux, tell him he should have joined the AF!! I've never seen a blue tux in my life outside of the AF Mess Dress.

I'm an advocate of let the groom choose his outfit.  Mine chose his dress blues (Navy).

I get the stress of trying to plan and having no idea where you will be.   Is moving the date up and getting married before he goes AD an option?

Thanks. We actually just talked it out and decided on our colors and stuff like that. The colors are dark blue and silver. He doesn't have Dress Blues which seems odd. He also just got back about 5 months ago from his deployment to Iraq. I would LOVE to get married sooner. We really need to talk about it.

Hi OP, it might be a good idea to change your SN, since it's his last name. Especially since you put his first name here. Lots of crazies on the internet.

    GL planning.

I suggest you go on with your wedding as planned for now.  The Army currently has a freeze on anyone who is Reserves, Guard or prior enlisted going AD.  If the freeze is dropped any time soon, it may still take a while for his paperwork to get through and then be sent anywhere.

I also ditto Stan's suggestion that you change you SN.  Too many creepers out there.
