So I have decided for my mom, his mom and my granny to do embroidered hankies for their gift before the wedding. His dad has been with someone for 10+ yrs she isnt a FI or wife so should I get them a together gift or should it just be for his dad? Does anyone have any ideas for a together gift?

After the wedding I was planning on making them all a parent album from our wedding pictures.

I think a 10 year relationship deserves some aknowledgement, but how much might depend on how involved she's been in FI's life.  Even if she hasn't been much of a mother figure, I would still get her a token gift, or give FFIL a gift that shares well for the both of them.

Thanks that is what I figured but she really isnt a significant part of FI life just FFIL :)

I just noticed we are getting married the same day! How is the planning going?

I agree. My grandfather has a serious girlfriend for about 10 years now, and my cousins have treated her more or less like a grandmother at their weddings, and I will do the same.

How does your FI's family treat this woman outside of weddings? Is she always invited to Christmas? family vacations? Thanskgiving? so that she might as well be family? Or is it a bit different? a bit less? If she's treated like family, continue with that. If she's treated a bit different, then follow that. Maybe still a gift, but a different gift. That kind of thinking.

[I sure hope that everyone reading this recognizes you can treat someone very well without treating that person like family.]

So we are!  Planning is progressing wonderfully.  FI and I just got back from our first discussion with the baker.  She is excited, because it's a unique design, quirky and fun.  It is going to be one memorable cake.

How goes yours?
