Not Engaged Yet

Ahh! Keep me sane, please?

So just as I'm about to doze off after pulling an all-nighter for HW, BF calls me and said he needed to ask me something then got really quiet. He keep starting to ask whatever it was he wanted to ask, but then would stop. Finally he just said, "I want to ask your input, but I don't because I'm old fashion like that."

I told him just to tell me and then after he paused again, I panicked and told him: "No wait, text my BFF first and ask her about it." lol She's calling him when she goes on her lunch break.

I'm really, really super flustered. The only thing he says he's old-fashioned about is engagements. I want my BFF to text me back what he asks, but at the same time I don't.

*deep breaths*

Maybe it's just about the opera we're all going to see tonight. Right? Right?

*deep breath* it could be about house fixtures... ok maybe.  Either way, its really tempting to ask him what its about but if it pertains to your engagement, and that's a big IF.  I'm sure you rather be surprised so let your BFF field that question.  You focus on school work and mending that toe!  I expect to see snowboarding pics!  I'll post some of mine, you just have to mind that 80% of them are of me flat on my back from falling all the time. Damn you slippery snow!

Bren- Oo, binoculars. I wonder if they aud we're going to is big enough to need those (it's a college performance).

Moto-I actually don't have any pictures of me snowboarding. Hmm, that needs to change this year.

I was doing so good with being relatively sane about this whole thing too. *grumble* I shall hope for a pony with binoculars.

Update: BF caved and told me everything after my BFF had no answers. Apparently BF bought a ring in July before we had gone ring shopping together and apparently there has been drama with said ring. Since this also happened before we went ring shopping, I also feel like a douche because while ring shopping I told him I hated heart stones... Apparently it's a heart stone. *headdesk*

Long story short BF was supposed to have the ring in October, but the store lost it. BF told them yesterday he wanted a refund and went to the jeweler that has the ring I liked. Store #1 has since found the ring but BF really wants nothing more to do with them. And yup that's where we are now. BF is going to fight to get a refund and I feel bad for having told him I hate want he bought (before I knew what it was).

Deburnin - I have to say, I understand your guilt, but I'm glad you were able to tell him you didn't like heart stones before you knew that was what he got.  No offense to anyone who has one, but I don't like them either.  I feel like I could suck it up and learn to love just about any ring, but not one with a heart stone.  Anyway, try not to feel too guilty about it.  You didn't know, after all.  There's no way you could have known.  Do you think it upset him?

I hope he can get the refund!  *vibes*

Oh, deb, don't feel bad about it! As Elle said, you couldn't have known.

Plus, I'm sure your BF would rather know in advance and feel more sure that he is getting you something you will love.

    I have faith it is all going to work out. {{vibes}}

Elle- No, he wasn't upset. He thought that the heart stone would be perfect for me and his reasonings behind it are very sweet. He loves the ring he got me, but he saw how much I loved the ring we found while shopping (why do guys decided to do this after already having a ring?? Bad idea!) and went back to Kay's to get a refund, but it was past the 60 days. With all the drama that's gone on he thinks he has very good reason to have his money returned.

I really just want to love what ever he gets me. I hate that I got so wrapped up in the ArtCarved ring. I'm usually not into jewelry at all and I hate feeling selfish for wanting the other one so badly. :( I really had no idea that he had already bought one. I'm still kind of floating from that information. :)

We'll see what happens. He said if Kay won't give his money back he will change the stone, but even he wants to be able to get the ArtCarved one (Doesn't stop my guilty). He's already told the other jeweler he's interested. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

    Please keep us updated! :)

Just a thought -- it might be even better if he doesn't go with an Art Carved ring. It just seems like that ring has taken on epic proportions in your mind at this point. I don't know if the reality of looking at it every day could match your imagination. Not that I think you've spent too much time/effort imagining it. I just think that's natural having seen it in advance.

I don't know. I guess I just kind of like that my husband surprised me with the ring he picked out. I gave him some pictures, but he ended up with something that I didn't expect. And not only is it beautiful, but I love that he picked it for me. Normally, for Christmas and birthdays, we give each other "wish lists" so it's unusual for him to have to shop for me all on his own, and that's something I really treasure about my ring.

Really, though, however it turns out, it's going to be a beautiful moment. This time of waiting and anticipation and excitement is so special, so wring every last bit of joy out of it while you still can! :)

Deb,I have no recollection of what the Art Carved ring you love looks like, but is there any way (if the e-ring doesn't work out somehow) that you could get an Art Carved wedding band?

Desert- I think if the stone is changed to just a round stone I would definitely be able to love it knowing that he picked it out on his own.

Bren- I'm not sure if the matching band would go with the ring BF picked. He did a sketch for me (he's not very good at drawing lol). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens and then go from there. That's a good idea though! :)
